Joe Scarborough Is An Idiot.

thumbnail icon: Joe Scarborough Is An Idiot.

So this morning Jim Cramer went on Joe Scarborough's Morning Joe to sit there looking sheepish and saying "Jon Stewart's a comedian" over and over while Joe did all the work of trying to defend Cramer against Jon Stewart's "unfair" attacks. This was one of Joe's arguments, which he repeated over and over: they could go back and show Jon Stewart mocking the surge and General Petraeus but they "can't" because The Daily Show, unlike Cramer's Mad Money, doesn't "have transcripts." That's funny, Joe Scarborough, because I just went to "www.thedailyshow.com" and entered the word "surge" and guess what popped up? A bunch of videos you could use to make your argument if it wasn't still misguided! Do I really have to be Joe Scarborough's intern today?

Here's the Morning Joe segment (warning: maddening), in which Joe says that Jon Stewart has his people "scouring" "hours of video":

And here's just one of the many examples of Jon Stewart criticizing General Petraeus that are available to anyone capable of doing even the most basic search:

Well, it looks like Jon's predictions were, from the vantage point of this particular moment in history, fortunately incorrect, but if finding this video seems like a strange way to defend Jon Stewart, keep in mind that Jon Stewart hasn't run around all week claiming that it doesn't exist. Joe Scarborough's transcript argument could be a sign that he doesn't know about how the internet works now or, more likely, he'd rather use seventh grade's most popular comeback for when you don't have a leg to stand on: "I could say a bunch of things right now, but I won't."

JOE SCARBOROUGH IS A CUNT.

would have been a better headline.

I love how all of these "legit" newspeople claim that Stewart & co. "aren't real news," but then they spend all this time talking about him and, in turn, keep legitimizing TDS as a force to be reckoned with. Good strategy.

Do these people ever WATCH The Daily Show? Jon Stewart is not a malicious hateful man, he's a funny Jewish man. He talks about Baconaisse and says Rod Blagojevich's name funny and has funny subtitles. His show isn't about insulting people, it's about insulting stupidity. The best thing Cramer could do is say "Yeah, I screwed up, but that's how the stock world is", not just repeat how Jon Stewart is a comedian over and over.

Its a statement quality that is prominent in his humor.....Like how Dave Chappelle is a funny black man and Dane Cook is an unfunny retarded man.

I"m really sick of the argument "They constantly made fun of George Bush, but they never make fun of Barack Obama."

He hasn't been President for two months yet. Give him time to screw up first.

Yeah this couldn't be more annoying. Whatever happened to the "first 100 days" as a measuring stick? The weird republican media is very critical of Obama for failing to repair the country in his first 5 weeks in office... They were MUCH more forgiving of Bush's failure to even learn to speak in public for 8 years...

How did this "Jon Stewart worships Obama so he doesn't make fun of him" meme get started? He put speeches of Bush and Obama side to side to expose the similarity of their rhetoric. He tweaked the unrealistic expectations Obama created with his Fat Tuesday speech. He reamed the fecklessness of Geithner press conference on Ash Wednesday. (I base my life around the Catholic calendar.) If anything he's been the only comedian to find an angle on Obama (that doesn't rely on paranoia or racism) thus far.

Once again....I dont understand why they are leaving out the most important part. TDS didnt blindly attack Cramer. It was originally a piece to make Santelli look stupid because he was going to be on the show. Cramer happens to have the top financial show on CNBC so many of his clips were used to prove the point about Santelli. Cramer then made it about him and Jon Stewart with his counter-argument. Yet they keep acting like TDS attacked him out of nowhere.
Also the hypocrisy of the last few statements about the Dems needing to "relax" after they just spent 11 minutes ranting about this was just beautiful.

Jon should take Joe's suggestion and appear on Morning Joe to discuss his beliefs and why he's angry at CNBC and the media in general. If we're lucky, he could get this piece of shit show taken off the air just like when he appeared on Crossfire. Scarborough is a tool, and so is Cramer.

Gross.
Joe Scarborough seems like the biggest idiot (you were so right Lindsay!) getting worked up over a comedic commentator. Their whole schtick is pointing out the idiots/mistakes in media, etc. Because it's hilarious. Because it's on the COMEDY CHANNEL.
Joe seemed so O'Reilly to me in this.

Cramer and Scarborough are going a bit overboard with this, but they do have a point. I'm a huge fan of the Daily Show, but Stewart is showing these clips with hindsight; it's not like Cramer or CNBC knew these companies and their CEOs were lying back when they interviewed them.

We were in DC for the Inauguration. That morning, the temperature was well below freezing and when we got to the mall (long before sunrise), we filtered into the closest available space, which happened to be right next to the MSNBC booth, a sort of portable enclosed studio out on the grass. As Scarborough was making his way inside, he pointed to the heaters inside the booth and then pointed and laughed at us. They were broadcasting live and during two of the breaks, he turned around and did the same asshole-points-at-the-heaters move and a sort of warm and toasty gesture with his arms, laughing at us.

Sure, this was just one isolated meathead incident, but nobody will ever be able to convince me that Scarborough isn't a total cunt.

I like how Joe believes that Comedy Central has enough money to provide 100 computers for interns let alone a space big enough to provide room for said 100 interns going through hours and hours and hours of CNBC footage. How would a fake news show have more resources than a real news show? I guess Joe was the only one willing to do damage control on MSNBC and for some reason had no idea what he was talking about.
Also what did John Stewart get wrong about Iraq? Everything he said is right and we will be in Iraq for years to come. Just because you change the name of combat forces to something else does not mean they are no longer there. "A rose by any other name..."

You're wrong about one thing: we are going to now start calling our troops in Iraq "new schools." We will no longer have "combat forces" in Iraq, but we will have 150,000 "new schools."
Or something.
Scarborough voted for Bush TWICE. End of.

Neil -the point is not that CNBC should be Columbo and sniff out the liars - though, doing some background on those companies wouldn't hurt, esp. Standford - it's that CEOs aren't going to exactly be objective analysts of their own company's fiscal health. It's like asking a director about their movie, and then expecting them to say "You know, it didn't really turn out as good as I thought".

And the general attitude of these business networks has been BUYBUYBUY even when it started to become obvious that was fucking retarded. They're as responsible for the bubble as anyone.

What the Crossfire guys didn't get and what Cunt Scarborough doesn't either is the Daily Show is as much media critique as it as an attack on politicians. They just can't get it through their thick skulls that a majority of people think they're half if not more of the political problem in this country. I wish we could have a pundit election and throw these silly bums out.

I've always thought that Joe Scarborough was madly in love with Jon Stewart. He used to show Daily Show clips on Scarborough Country at least once a week.

Maybe he's just upset because Jon Stewart spurned his advances.

The most interesting bit comes towards the end when Cramer is lambasting Tim Geitner and cites an SNL segment to legitimize his point. This whole time he attempts to discredit Stewart & Co. by calling them "comedians", and turns right around to use comedians to legitimize his own views. Unreal. I hope The Daily Show runs this when they have Cramer on tonight.

So I was just watching this a second time... Does any one else feel sorry for Mika? She spent the entire video trying to make a valid point while Scarborough was spewing his idiocy and Cramer kept talking about how Jon Stewart was targeting HIM unfairly. And all Mika could do was say four words and make clear expressions of distaste and frustration. She must have one of the worst jobs...

The guy is the king of out of context quote editing and then adding sarcasm. Real freakin original. I remember that sarcasm humour real well in 8th grade. You are the same people who think Dane Cook is funny. Idiots. All of you.
