CNBC Learns Not To Fuck With Jon Stewart
Ouch! Spurred by a last-minute cancellation by CNBC's Rick Santelli, last night Jon Stewart put together an anti-CNBC Op-ed, using their own footage to show that not only were CNBC's financial analysts pretty much always wrong about the financial crisis, but they kissed the asses of every bad guy they could find. It's worth watching the whole thing. We probably won't be seeing any guests from CNBC on the Daily Show any time soon:
If The Daily Show every puts out a DVD of Jon's Best Rants, this will definitely be on it.

It's sad that a fake news parody show does a better job of explaining this financial debacle and debunking "financial experts" than just about any journalist out there. And it brings the funny, only in a "that's funny but OMG THERE ARE SO MANY IDIOTS IN POSITIONS OF POWER" kind of way.

The last clip is bunk, though. He calls an anchor out for not pressing Sir Allen Stanford nearly eight months before his Ponzi scheme was revealed. Stanford is now on the run from all of his debtors and the law, he's not doing CNBC interviews.

I don't think it was necessary to ask him whether he enjoyed being a millionaire. Maybe it's sycophantic journalism like that that allows people like Stanford to get away with ponzi schemes for as long as they do.

I'm not defending CNBC's journalistic credibility, they clearly bring nothing to the table. I'm just saying that the scripting around the video clips was deceptive. Stanford's behavior hadn't pricked up any ears in the media until after Madoff, and the clip was from last May. But yeah, that's a dumb question being asked by a dumb journalist, undeniable.

look-- there's something extremely arrogant and partial about Jon "know-it-all" Stewart-- although he has a free ride because his show deals with anything and everything HE chooses, CNBC is a network that covers financial news, opinion, real-time data.. with 24/7/365 financial coverage, it is pretty easy for this idiot Stewart and his payroll to clip pieces together and act like he knows BETTER-- in fact, HE ALWAYS KNOWS BETTER (problem is its always the day, year or decade after the events have unfolded)... His arrogance and left wing tilt is CLEAR-- and i find monday morning quarterbacking and using clips to PROVE his intelligence and CNBC's ignorance to be quite curious.. Jon Stewart was BETTER than CNBC (in his own warped mind)and this was such a childish reaction-- wonder what kind of SHORT-coming between his legs has led to this problem of his.. partisan pansies aren't my pick when i want COMEDY

While you may sound like a tool, I still gave you +1 because you are sorta' right. People who talk about how Stewart is the only news they watch or trust are fools. He is a comedian commenting on past events after the jusry has came back. He is the king of "clapter" and using his cult following to make shitty arguments sound clever.
BUT he IS just a comedian and really shouldn't be held to the same standard as CNBC. Furthermore, his partisan tilt can't really be hated when you consider that he's not reporting the news. He only makes jokes about it.
You can hate his most devout fans, but calling a comedian's schtick arrogant seems misplaced. Colbert is far less dangerous in my oppinion because everyone understands that its a schtick. People take John Stewart far too serious.
