Jay Leno Is The Epitome Of Mediocrity The New Yorker weighs in on The Jay Leno Show. Finally! What took those guys so long? It can't be that hard to clean your monocle and put new leather elbow patches on your corduroy blazer. HOP HOP.

"The saddest if carnivals" is an apt description of Leno's new show; nineteenth century top hats off to you, New Yorker.

Not to be all Elaine Benes over here, but what I don't get is the continuing inclusion of those godawful spot cartoons. They're a New Yorker institution blah blah blah, but when a cartoon that consists entirely of using a phrase from the Miranda rights to shush someone in a movie theater is included in your article blasting someone else for overstaying their unfunny welcome, it shows how badly their goddamn irony meter needs to be fixed. FIX IT, NEW YORKER.

The Jay Leno Show does not approach the cutting edge brilliance of "Biker Chick Chat" with Megan Fox. The entire conceit of the gratuitous use of the word "frickin'" is beyond genius.

Do they also take a shot or two at Coco? That angers me.

Stale writing, stale unoriginal insights...nice cover as usual...if ONE show on network got the tone right...on some level the 10 o'clock idea is already a success...

What is the beef with Jay? I don't get it. The guy is unfunny, granted, but are there not worse incompetent comedians to rail against? The guy goes to Detroit and puts on free shows for the poor city, he's got a heart.
"He owns quite a few cars. He works like a dog, I saw it on 20/20! I can't wait for the new show!" - Mom
She's right. What is to hate about this guy? Okay, he owns a lot of cars. So what? He tries his best. Old people fucking LOVE HIM. Maybe he doesn't cater to our demographic but it's hard to deny the success. I realize this is like saying Nickelback is okay because "people" like them, but you're out of your fucking mind if you think jay leno = nickelback.

Leno's pretty much on nickleback's level, artistically. Totally pandering, compromised, nothing edgy or original about it at all.
