David Cross And Jon Benjamin At The Room NYC Screening

thumbnail icon: David Cross And Jon Benjamin At The Room NYC Screening

Those who went to the (now monthly!) midnight screening of The Room in New York on April 24 were treated to David Cross and Jon Benjamin wearing wigs and impersonating Tommy Wiseau and Denny, respectively. The impression is approximate, but some of David's lines are hilarious ("Tennessee Williams is one of the great defenders of my work.") The event's organizers put up video of their introduction, complete with drunk-crowd interaction.

I sat this one out, but the funniest thing I heard about it (other than Cross and Benjamin's appearance) was that there were people there who thought it was a serious movie and tried to shush people when they yelled at the screen. For some reason that idea is hilarious. The Room is now traveling around the world, and will be screening in NYC the last Friday of every month at the Village East. If you bring friends, be sure to tell them it's a crowd-participation thing. (Thanks for the tip that the video was up, Joe!)

I know it's a pipe dream but I wish that The Room would screen in Texas.

It's screening in Austin tonight (Wed) at the downtown Alamo WITH TOMMY WISEAU IN ATTENDANCE, but Lindsay won't tell you that cuz she's a coast snob.

Oh my lord it's playing in Boston on saturday! TOTALLY THERE.

Does Wiseau appear at every screening listed on the web site by chance? Cause that would make my millennium.

Uh huh, so by "traveling around the world" you actually mean "only in North America"? You are tearing me apart, Lisa!

Ok, I was at this screening, and the David Cross appearance was totally epic and unexpected, BUT I have to kind of defend the shushers on this one in at least one respect: people drowning out the best lines with their retardo commentary was totally annoying. Also, I think the spoon-throwing is a little ridiculous. If this movie's number one prob were the spoon pictures, I don't think we'd be talking about it, knaaa-mean?
