Simon Pegg Doesn't Want Us To Buy His DVD Simon Pegg and Robert Weide are mad that the US version of the DVD of their movie, How To Lose Friends And Alienate People, doesn't have their chosen bonus material on it, so they're all "Don't buy it, guys, for real." DEAL. (Zing.) We still might Netflix it out of a mixture of curiosity and contrarian-ness, though.

It was a big deal for a while last summer when Tropic Thunder released previews containing the scene where Robert Downey, Jr. urges Ben Stiller to "Never go full retard." I watched the DVD last night and was curious as to whether Paramount gave in to pressure from groups representing the intellectually disabled and took the scene out (which would have been lame, in my opinion, though the entire brouhaha was pretty predictable on the part of the studio.) The DVD for The Dark Knight came out on Tuesday, and it continues to break all the records. According to /film, it sold 600,000 copies on Blu Ray alone, making it the highest debuting Blu Ray DVD in history, whatever that means. Like the ocean? Ocean movies? Uh, I'm noticing a theme this week in the long-ass list of Netflix New Releases: the Rapture and the end of the world and, especially, the Anti-Christ! Something tells me the fundamentalist Christian companies/ministries who finally released these old propaganda movies chose this date in history for a reason. Clearly some people out there think that what's happening in our country right now is the event-movie equivalent of the year 2000. What I'm trying to say here is: they think they can make some money off the other loons who also think Obama is the Anti-Christ. There's just no other explanation for these titles:
