Paul Rudd's Starbucks Fetish

This deleted scene from The Ten is going around this week. Somehow I missed it on the DVD, but it's Paul Rudd protesting too much about an illicit affair with a girl he met at Starbucks, and it's very funny:

Between this and Paul's rant about coffee cup sizes in Role Models, well, um, he has at least two funny scenes that are about Starbucks. I guess that's it. Paul Rudd is obsessed with Starbucks, the end. (If you haven't seen The Ten, it's hilarious.)

Of course, if you have seen The Ten, it is not hilarious.

You are wrong
David Wain creates genius. There might have been one scene during The 10 that I didn't loose myself laughing at (Lying Rhino, which would have probably been fixed if it had been in squiggle vision). If you don't laugh at "It's a goof!" "That's why they call it rape" basically the entire Honor Thy Father And Mother scene, and watching a one legged man carry carry a rickshaw, I don't know what century of comedy you are living in.

I hate to be a comedy snob (this is not true, but for the sake of argument), but David Wain funny is basically the best we have right now. Put in Ken Marino, Keri Kinney, H Jon Benjamin, A.D. Miles, and of course Paul Rudd and you have an hour and a half of the funniest thing the comedy world has to offer.

Ugh, even Paul Rudd couldn't save a train wreck like The Ten. I think all The State people are hilarious but The Ten was nowhere near as amazing as Wet Hot American Summer.

No poopieface, you are wrong, and I'll tell you why. I agree with everything you said about the people involved in making this film, including and especially David Wain. But The Ten is a weak idea executed pretty weakly, which has some very funny scenes buried among a lot of not very funny scenes, and a structure which inherently lends itself to boredom. "What are we on now? Sin 7? Ok ... so three more to go." It's just not a very funny film. It doesn't offend me or anything, but to call it hilarious is to lie right in my Internet face, and I'm not about to stand for that.

The structure lends itself to boredom is basically saying "i'm not giving the attention it demands"--- it is a tough structure, but going into this movie, you have to totally trust the filmmaker and take that step with him. This was an experimental idea, and Waino lends so many different emotions and different styles come out in it and that is a very challenging comedy to take in. And once you accept that, and keep the high level the movie deserves- it is the most rewarding and funny movie Wain Drain has done. We should demand, as purveyors of comedy, to be challenged by it and to raise our level of what we think is funny... you/everyone should watch this movie again--- you owe yourself that much because this structure lends itself to and deserves repeated viewings

The Ten was uneven.

Funny: Mexico, the prison story, the ventriloquist dummy, Liev Schreiber, and Paul Rudd.

Unfunny: Lying Rhino.

The rest was meh.

Yeah, David Wain and most of the members of The State are great, but The Ten was a piece of shit.

He doesn't even mention Starbucks, yet YOU mention it three fucking times. Is this a videogum attempt at viral marketing? Sellouts!

But he does say "corporate coffe places," which is virtually synonymous with Starbucks.

Paul Rudd is so dreamy and non threatening... swoon. But he's definitely not funny. Sorry the female sex.

If you saw The Ten expecting Wet Hot 2, of course you were disappointed. Every single thing in a movie doesn't have to work perfectly (especially in a comedy) for that movie to be hilarious, and The Ten had at least 20 absolutely hilarious lines or scenes. I mean, come on, Adam Brody's Titanic line in the first five minutes? But the movie is a lot better the second time you watch it. I appreciate The Ten more with every viewing, actually.

Alright, Lindsay. I'll give The Ten another shot b/c you said so. But I was severely underwhelmed the first time. However, there is no competition whatsoever for Wet Hot American Summer for funniest comedy of all time. None.

The Ten- will culturaly stand the test of time and I honestly do believe it will be the funniest movie made this decade. What makes the movie so good is there is so much layering to it, and the ideas themselves and how backwardsly they relate to each commandment is utter brilliance. The running jokes and the callbacks to The State and Wet Hot take the movie to another level of comedy nerdery. The Jokes in it are so straight and played that way- to allow these fucking brilliant vignettes to stand on their own. And instead of being overly jokey- they take you to weird and off beat and ultimately rewarding places. And these actors playing such out there scenarios! Liev Shcriber, Gretchen Mol, Oliver Platt, Wynona Rider, AD Miles, Famke Jensen, Michael Ziegfield the ventriloquist, KEN MARINO!!!, Bobby Cannavale, Joe Lo!!, Sudeikas, Rob Corddry, and Mather Zickel give mind-blowing performances. There is literally nothing wrong with this movie, and you really have to have some elitist backstory to not truly understand this movie. Lindsey is right- nothing like Wet Hot which was a stylistic parody- The Ten is more akin to Zucker Bros movies like Kentucky Fried Movie, or to an extent Airplane in its ridiculousness. I honestly think this is a pinnacle in Waino's Comedic genius, and the fact that people don't LOVE this movie is the worst. There is such a high scale effort in writing/ productuin that goes unnoticed that of course you have to watch this multiple times. I personally am on 15th viewing. Seriously- one of the best movies ever.

"I can't look at you without wanting to punch you in the face, throw you against the wall, and then rape you... without your consent of course"
"hey- thats what makes it rape"
"thats what makes it rape"

Noooo. You like The Ten??? I just need to say, as a ladaaay, I found "The Goof" scenes and some of the slapping wife stuff pretty weird and nearing offensive. And I KNOW it's odd ball humor with that objective in mind. But I've never been a fan of that kind of comedy that gets into the murky waters of 'uncomfortable' humor, where the main objective seems to be to make you cringe.

But then again, I know a handful of people who also really loved it... So...eh.
I guess it's not my cup of tea.

By the way: Deuce Bigalo: Male Gigalo maybe?????????????
I havent' seen it, but Pajiba ripped it the funniest new one and I bet you could do one better.
