A Man In An Elmo Suit Teaches Potty Training. With Sound Effects.

I would like to just take this space to remind everyone about my earlier post about the upcoming (cough! highbrow! cough!) documentary about industrial design, Objectified. Please hold the existence of that post, and its high-hanging, difficult-to-pick fruit, in your mind as you watch this creepy-as-fuck video in which a guy (the kid's Dad?) in an Elmo suit teaches a toddler, um, how to, um, go number two in the potty:

Is that a rented suit from a costume store? Is there a hole in the back? Were sound effects added somehow? What about toilet paper? And WHYYYYY? At least the kid seems almost as freaked out as us. ("Thanks" to Sarah for the tip!)

The real offense is that Elmo didn't teach her how to wipe.

That's what I was trying to delicately refer to with "What about toilet paper?"

I am the worst at reading the whole thing sometimes. Sometimes I'm just ready to watch a video of a grown man pretending to poop, weaving elaborate lies concerning his choice of shoes when his daughter sees through his Elmo ruse.

Pete Hornberger was Elmo once to his kid to teach them to use the bathroom: "Elmo wants you to use the potty.. not mommy, POTTY".... Hornberger- that b character.... I can't believe you didn't reference that

I'm currently potty training my son, so I *guess* I can empathize with what these parents were trying here....
On second thought, no. Nevermind. It's still fucked up.

Little kids are so cute, they will believe anything. This is just really weird. It sort of makes me feel funny, like they are tricking her, and that just doesn't seem right. She is more interested in his shoes than going poopoo anyway.
