Visa Reminds Us That Sometimes The Olympics Are Interesting

Dammit, Visa. Dammit, Morgan Freeman. Dammit, Olympics. This commercial is like a punch in the face, it's so heartbreaking (via Cajun Boy):

Go world. Go world, indeed. But don't worry, Derek Redmond is okay now!

Derek and his father look back on that day in a documentary:

This one is the saddest, though! The real-time footage, not even in English:

There's also, uh, a version of the video set to Creed's "With Arms Wide Open", if you're into that.

we had to watch this in slow motion in seventh grade so we would be inspired to not do drugs. we were told this by people shadow dancing in a spinning box while jangling chains.

it makes me sad still cuz he seems nice plus i havent done drugs yet.

Curse you Visa! I'll just be sitting around watching TV and then see this comercial and get depressed. It happens practically every time I sit down to watch TV!

I remember seeing a special on HBO, back in the days when Video Jukebox was around, about the Olympics. From what I recall, Derek would have been disqualified since his dad helped him. He didn't even finish the race! What a shame.
