Taxslayer.com Combines Tax Preparation And Offensive Cultural Stereotypes

The tax prep company Taxslayer.com has begun running commercials on national and local TV in time for W2 season. Like this one, which appears to take place in Tony's urine-soaked safe house from the end of The Sopranos. Do the mafia even pay taxes? A version of this is actually running on TV right now:

After the jump, Taxslayer.com uses stereotypes about Australians (??) for their other national commercial.

"I just got a new homepage":

That is the WORST Aussie accent in history.

I don't find it offensive, but every time those commercials come on I say to nobody "God those commercials are so fucking annoying."

why exactly is he australian in the first place? is there some new stereotype that australians are good resources for tax advice?

That's actually a great stereotype, and I'm gonna run with it.

That was the laziest attempt at an Australian accent. He wasn't even TRYING. He should have taken lessons from the Italian-American stereotype guys. They were reaally into it with the hand-movements and wacky expressions.

I looked up the commercials on youtube. they are from a contest for taxslayer.com. Given they are most likely 'average joes' they are pretty good. quality isnt the best but i thought the joey and vito one was funny! i get it! i feel very silly!
