New Wendy's Ad Tries To Be Like The Lonely Island, Fails
Oh, those advertising agency people, always trying to copy the cool new thing that the kids like and failing, like when they all (all) made a version of the Mad Men credits for their little agency Christmas cards. It's almost cute, like watching Bambi trying to walk for the first time and falling. (I'm allowed to say all these terribly unfair things because they make so much money. It's in the rules. Look it up.) This Wendy's commercial, "Posse," is what The Lonely Island would look like with 800 rounds of notes by Wendy's execs. Complete with auto-tune!:
No, we don't want to get frosty with you, and you are definitely not on a boat. (Via Ad Rants.)

I'd rather have a frosty than the Lonely Island

I don't like things that start small and then get popular.

Awesome. I don't like things that aren't ice cream (or approximations thereof)
Score = 14
The only thing worse than The Lonely Island is a The Lonely Island imitation.
Score = 12
More like "Tries To Be Like The Backstreet Boys, Succeeds"
Score = 22
Yeah, I think suggesting that Wendy's is ripping of The Lonely Island is giving their ad agency too much credit.
Score = 10
And here I was under the impression that Frostys sold themselves.
Score = 27
you can't spoof this commercial anymore than it already is doing it itself! inadvertently, no less. wow. my brain hurts. a dog chasing its tail. they're laughing at this new Frosty thing from Wendy's, right? that's what i got from the ad.
Score = 3
Comparing commercial with TLI is like comparing...apples and dogshit. I would have never come up with the comparison because this is just SO terrible.
Score = 2
Uh oh. Does anyone else know someone who you know is going to think this is the funniest thing ever and make you feel like you need new friends/family?

That Indian guy is "Ajay Bhatt", the actor who pretended to be the inventor of the USB for that Intel commercial. Intel In-fake.

I noticed the same thing! Mer.

Does this mean that Lonely Island is ripping off Blink-182? Or was Blink-182 ripping off Weird Al? Is it the Officialâ„¢ position of Videogum.com that all parodies of boy band videos are now the intellectual property of Andy Samberg & Co.?
Score = 10
It is the official position of the human race that you are faggot for even mentioning Blink 182 in this. You were probably faggot before this, but you are AIDS type now. Die, fagbot.
Score = -24
HT, you're an idiot. It's not that the Lonely Island is the first to parody boy bands or hip hop or loving mothers. It's just that this painful commercial is so blatantly ripping off their style of parody. See also: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rESCt1Te1VY.
Score = 2
Sure. And Lonely Island ripped off their style from Kids in the Hall, or Monty Python. Whatever. You call it rap music, I call it crap music. This is angsty overserious junior high-level whining. Lonely Island are not original or unique, just current.

What is it with all the bad burger commercials lately? That lame ass "King" goof in the Burger King commecials, now this one from Wendy's. No wonder their business is falling off...
Score = 2
The lead singer guy looks like the spawn of Pete Wentz and Sacha Baron Cohen.
Score = 0
You give Lonely Island too much credit. Remember "2gether" or even the Blink 182 "All the Small THings" video. If anything, this commercial is about 7 years too late
Score = 1
This is so impossibly boring and stupid that it has zapped me of the ability to make any sort of zing! comment or even a dig at The Lonely Island.
Score = 1
Maybe if they'd done "Dick in a Frosty" it would have been more effective.
Score = 7
All Wendy's needs to do is produce a five-second commercial showing someone dipping a french fry in a Frosty and then eating it with a smile on their face. DONE! Where's my Nobel Prize for Frosties?
Score = 4
Doesn't everyone know that advertising simply involves ripping existing memes and repackaging them for the drooling masses? Because that's what advertising is.
