Dancing Baby Technology Has Barely Improved In The Last 13 Years

thumbnail icon: Dancing Baby Technology Has Barely Improved In The Last 13 Years

People often assume that YouTube videos of people hurting themselves or cute animals being cute or dancing children are the lowest form of entertainment, but they're wrong. The lowest form of entertainment is the poorly CGI-d baby doing something babies don't usually do, like talk or dance. The original horribly fake looking yet strangely popular dancing baby appeared in 1996, and even though YouTube has offered up MANY recent examples of ACTUAL DANCING by REAL TODDLERS whose parents would no doubt jump at the chance to use ad money to finance their talented tots' education at one of those schools like the one in Fame, companies like Evian are still hiring animators to make things like this.

Evian is still "naive" backwards. Next time, HIRE HENRY. (Via AdRants.)

Theoretically, you should be wanting to wash your eyes out with nothing but the purest cleanest water right now.
I think that is what they were going for.

Ew @ the baby being black just because it's more believable that a black person would name a baby after a brand of bottled water. "We can make this viral ad starring a black baby named Poland Springs."

Though, even more annoying is how fake 'viral videos' always have the same weirdly over produced cheesy tropes (super high quality camera, unrealistic looking artifacts, an off-screen PAID VOCIE ACTOR pretending to be a normal person who is talking more than real camera operators actually talk in YouTube videos, and ALWAYS go over the top with the lamp shades "hold my camera for a second--WHOA DID YOU SEE THAT!?). Why can't they just USE CONSUMER GRADE CAMERAS and NON-ACTORS? How can it be that hard to imitate amateurism?

Also, Evian is 'naive' backwards, 'live' is 'evil' backwards... EvianLiveYoung.com ... What's young backwards? Naive evil GNU Oy? I've already put too much thought into this.

I feel bad about hating things that are cute (because, really, that baby is so cute), but ugh. Evian. You couldn't have just had it be a video of a cute baby? It wouldn't have made much sense from an advertising standpoint, but NEITHER DOES THE DANCING.

99% of the dancing crap on youtube is fake, they are getting good at editing of course with time, so it seems more realistic
