Britney Debuts Her New Face In VMA Promo

Hey, it's those promos for MTV's Video Music Awards we heard about last week, where Britney Spears and host Russell Brand ad lib in an airplane hangar with the elephant in the room. In the first one, Britney is very convincing as a person who didn't take the time to learn the name of the person she's doing a promo with, and appears to have Botox ALREADY:

And if you thought Russell Brand was too creepy in that one, here he is asking Britney to pinch him because he can't believe he gets to host the awards:

(Shudder) Poor Britney.

Russell Brand is creepiness personified. How on earth did he land this hosting gig?

is the elephant in the room supposed to represent the fact that they should really be asking the tough questions like "why did Britney spears shave her head and flash her goodies?" because come on who really cares about russell BLAND *zing*

The fact that MTV used an elephant for these commercials makes me so pissed off that I can't see beyond the cruelty of that to see Britney or the other guy.

I have no clue what the mtv target demographic is these days, but do you think most Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus fans will pick up on the joke of elephant in the room?
