The Best Thing On TV This Year Involved Henry Fonda And Blueberries

thumbnail icon: The Best Thing On TV This Year Involved Henry Fonda And Blueberries

You don't have to be a comedy nerd to know that Norm MacDonald's roast of Bob Saget was the best non-election-related thing on TV in 2008 (full video at that link.) But even better than the roast, or on equal footing with the roast but off the cuff, was Norm's reply to Jim Norton (who, if you watched the other comedians' reactions, you will notice DID NOT GET IT AT ALL), who tried to insult him. I used to have no opinion about Jim Norton, but now I just think of him as that dude who got served:

Can we make this a THING? Like, any time anyone insults anyone else, can they say "Why, I don't think any person here would not LOVE to watch Henry Fonda pick blueberries!"? No? Well, I tried.

jim norton's horrible, but he gets points for totally loving norm's response. i kind of want to go back and watch norm's sitcom, if it even exists on dvd. other than this, i will always thing of jim norton as the guy who was on the one not so great thing louis ck did.

i had a bad experience with norton. i interned with opie & anthony a few years ago and said he wasn't funny on the air. he wasn't very pleased.

I loved that. If there is a way to attend an event without actually showing up - that was Norm during Saget's roast.

A few years ago when that stupid Trivial Pursuit was ruining the world's self-esteem, we devised a standard answer to whatever we didn't know: "A bucket of chicken."

I like this idea much better.

Do you guys have a video of this? The youtube video has been taken down. It's seriously one of the best Norm MacDonald moments, and it needs to be on the internet.
