Uh Oh, Could Someone Please Change Frank Gatson Jr.'s Diaper?

Frank Gason Jr., Beyonce's choreographer and the man responsible for "Single Ladies" (and therefore responsible for Shane Mercado), is unhappy with that SNL sketch from a month ago where Justin Timberlake and Andy Samberg danced bady. From EW:

As it turns out, not everyone was amused by last month's SNL parody of Beyonce's music video for "Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)"--namely, her choreographer, Frank Gatson Jr. "I was the only one who was upset with it," he recently told me. But what's not to love about the hilarious sketch featuring Justin Timberlake shaking his rump in pumps and a skimpy leotard? "I was upset because I know that Justin's a great dancer and if he learned the choreography, he could do it really well," Gatson explains. "For [co-choreographer] Jaquel Knight and I, the 'Single Ladies' dance is our baby. So, in some really stupid way, we were like, Why are they making fun of our baby?!" Still, he's learned to let bygones be bygones. "Everybody said, 'Frank, relax! It was funny.' And of course, I've relaxed about it...If they're making parodies [of our work] just like they make parodies of politicians and presidents, that means it must be big time. So in that respect, I have to take my hat off to them for doing it."

Yeah, no, totally. That skit would have been hilarious if Justin Timberlake had just totally nailed the "Single Ladies" dance super professionally. And it's hard to even imagine that the show that had PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE John McCain on the weekend before the election making fun of his entire campaign and stabbing his running mate in the back DARED to take on the sacred art that is the "Single Ladies" dance. I think that it's important with the economy falling apart, our leaders selling the future of our country's governance to the highest bidder, two wars, and a new Kevin James movie coming out to just take ourselves really seriously, especially when our jobs are making up dances for self-obsessed pop stars with stage personas and Terminator gloves, or, you know, blogging about the people who make up dances for self-obsessed pop stars with stage personas and Terminator gloves.

GABE FIERCE.
