Seriously, Though, Nestor Carbonell Wears Eyeliner

thumbnail icon: Seriously, Though, Nestor Carbonell Wears Eyeliner

Last night I watched The Dark Knight again. I forgot that Richard Alpert was in it. He plays the mayor of Gotham City. He also plays the Commissioner of the Gotham City Eyeliner Task Force. Dude should work as an Avril Lavigne eye-double. Apparently, he did an interview this week that's been making the rounds in which this very subject is brought up. (Via SciFi Wire via Paul Scheer.)

At the TV Critics Association press tour, some reporters asked if you wore eyeliner, which Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse denied. What do you think of this?

Carbonell: My brother sent me this link about the TCA, where you guys were at. Someone had asked about whether I was wearing eyeliner. I think Carlton came to my defense, and he said, "He's 100 percent sans makeup" or something like that. I could see why some people would think I have eyeliner on because [my eyelashes] are dark. Especially the bottom row, they're pretty dark. I've been dealing with it since I was a little kid, and so to me it's very funny when it comes up, especially at TCA. My brother told me to look online and sort of Google something about that, and my name came up as a couple things. One of them was Maybelline Man. I've been dubbed by some people as Guyliner. It's very amusing.

Hmmm, OK. But let's look at the facts.

FACT ONE: your eyes.

There. We have presented all of the facts. I'm not calling Nestor Carbonell a liar. If he says that he does not wear eyeliner, then I believe that he does not wear eyeliner. But not wearing eyeliner doesn't mean that you don't have eyeliner permanently tattooed under your eyes. Semantics. Mystery solved. No regrets. Me and Encyclopedia Brown are going out for root beers later if you want to join us.

I wasn't going to indulge you because this is totally ridiculous, but this picture is so much worse:

by worse, surely you mean deliciously and overtly palate-wetting?

I was the only one out on the "he is sexy" limb in the last LOST post, so I agree with you there, but you have to admit, he really does look like he's wearing eyeliner. The thinnest and most intricate eyeliner in the world, but eyeliner nonetheless.

My boyfriend is making me watch Lost, and I'm enjoying it, but I think it should be a rule that all time travel stories get ONE and ONLY ONE chance to say "...not where are we... WHEN are we?" Lost has already done it twice.

This man is beautiful. Eyeliner or no. Beautiful. He can hit my ex husband with a bus any day.

On lost he never ages,
In real life his mutant power is to have permanently smokey eyes...I think that if somehow his bloodlines and Scarlette Johansens mingled in the future- you'd have the Kwizatz Haderach. It's just a theory.

This is LOST remember? It could very well be the island effecting the chrono-particals in his eyes? He might not have remembered putting on the eyeliner, because he hasn't done it yet... It was done---in the future!

Goddamnit, I can feel my street cred evaporating as I type this(I live on E-Street[Get it!??!]). I have very deep-set eyes and I always look like I have eye shadow on in photos. I just have these dark raccoon eyes... I am wholly willing to believe that this swarthy bastard has the same eyes.

I've met and talked to Nestor on numerous occasions. His eyelashes are very black and very thick which does 'look' like he's wearing eyeliner, but those are his real eyes. They are just as incredible (and real) up close as the man himself!
