Tina Feytigue

thumbnail icon: Tina Feytigue

A blogger asks a question today, that I've been thinking about for awhile:

Just curious... ... when the Tina Fey backlash is gonna start. Because, you know, it's inevitable. Any guesses?

Look, Tina Fey is great. She was great as the head writer of Saturday Night Live, she carried that bag of hair Jimmy Fallon through Weekend Update, 30 Rock is one of the best shows on television, and you can barely even see the scar on her face anymore. But is it just me, or is anyone else having flashbacks to late 2003, after the euphoria of Maid in Manhattan had worn off and the dull ache of Gigli had set in, when Bennifer still seemed to be going strong, or at least going anywhere there were photographers, and then J Lo had to release her own brand of perfume? I really think it was the perfume that destroyed her. Now look at her. She's a shell of her former self. Some men even say they only rarely fantasize about fucking her anymore. Rarely!

Could Tina Fey be the J Lo of comedy?

From her role as Most Visible Writer during the strike, to the covers of Entertainment Weekly and Marie Claire, to Baby Mama, to her AmEx ad, to "bitch is the new black" , to Oprah (OPRAH!) it's just a matter of time before her line of weave extensions hits Big Lots.

Seriously, Tina, you are on a roll, but your roll is crushing my face. This is not a backlash, but IT COULD BECOME ONE. I'm throwing down the blogauntlet. Fart.

You know what I love about Stereogum? The fact that not every post over there has a bitter, hostile tone to it.

Gabe

Who asked why you love Stereogum?

I should have asked. I, too, read this blog to better hate it. And I LOVE to leave snarky comments about how bitter and hostile you are. In fact, I predict that as few as two weeks from now, you'll turn to guns and religion.

I'm setting a bookmark for gunsandreligiongum.com right now.

I'm bold.

So the reason there's going to be a backlash is because of people complaining about the lack of backlash?

Exactly. Just because it's suggested, doesn't mean it has to happen. And nice work on the J.Lo comparison - that one made sense.

Gabe can be somewhat of a debby downer. I mean...Tina Fey? Harold and Kumar? what gives man? Lighten up and enjoy or you might scare away some readers. That said...I mostly do enjoy your entries....but you can be witty/sarcastic/funny/entertaining without the bittery aftertaste.

Yeah, voice is terribly overrated.

"Whoops," nevermind. I take that back.

Like I said...I don't have a problem with it...but I hear what Dan was sayin'. Tis all.

Bravo, dude! You've only said what most honest and unbrainwashed people are thinking. We've been having this conversation over the past few weeks as more and more Fey keeps popping up. Frankly I AM sick of her right now. As for any criticisms you get, I mean what the hell? This blog belongs to you.

I'd rather see Tina Fey all over the place instead of some waste-of-space like Heidi Montag, Paris Hilton or whatever other talentless skank is volleying for national attention right now.

It sounds like the Gabe Delahaye backlash has begun.

Congrats.

She was the head writer for one of the least funny periods in SNL history, 30 rock is overrated, so are her comedic talents. Debra Wilson, Nicole Sullivan, Alex Borstein, Stephanie Weir, and Nicole Parker from past and present incarnations of Madtv were infinitely
funnier but because that show doesn't have the same pedigree
as SNL, Fey gets all the publicity. Please, let the backlash begin.
