The End Fake Rap Movement Needs Your Help

thumbnail icon: The End Fake Rap Movement Needs Your Help

In early August, buried in a post about a horrible Large Hadron Collider video in which scientists in science coats made a rap about their experiment, I declared that it was time to put an end to fake rap, and asked that everyone please sign my petition. But perhaps my outrage and conviction against fake rap was not strong enough, because not only does the petition remain woefully undersigned, but the horribleness that is fake rap, which is the worst and needs to go to jail, continues apace. From the AP:

Ed McMahon has an unexpected new job title: rapper.

The 85-year-old former "Tonight Show" sidekick will star in two viral rap videos for FreeCreditReport.com, a financial Web site owned by credit bureau Experian. The videos feature McMahon wearing a tracksuit, being chauffeured around Los Angeles in a golf cart and waxing lyrical about his very public financial troubles.

The videos will appear online in October.

Whoops. There was a major typo in the first sentence, which should read, "Ed McMahon has an unexpected new job title: the worst." I'm sure the AP will issue a correction later this afternoon. In any case, seriously, you guys, this problem will not go away until America stands up and says NO MORE FAKE RAP, THANK YOU. And we might even need to drop the 'thank you' because of REAL TALK. Please sign the End Fake Rap Petition and help me in this dire cause.
