Did Anyone Even See In Bruges? The always humorously-skewed Golden Globe nominations were announced today, and, as usual, they're stupid and arbitrary but everyone is pretending they matter. I get caring about the show, because it's drunk celebrities mouthing smack about each other to their tablemates, but can we really take seriously any awarding body that nominates Entourage for anything?

...or Mama Mia and True Blood. I'm also surprised to see Tom Cruise get a nomination for what, like 5 minutes of screen time? On the other hand, I did see In Bruges and I'm really glad to see it nominated. It was one of my favourite movies last year and it's the first time that I've liked Colin Farrell in anything.

I saw In Bruges. I loved it and recomend it to anyone who has gotten burned watching independent cinema. Brendan Gleeson and Colin Farrel were both excellent.

I saw and loved In Bruges. One of the most enjoyable movies I've seen this year.

I loved In Bruges, but it's definitely not a comedy.

In Bruges was phenomenal, particularly the actors' performances. "Comedy" might be stretching it a little, but yes, it has a lot of dark humor.

Anna Paquin for True Blood? Really?! I mean, I knew these weren't really worth much, but the fact that she was nominated is pretty much a slap to everyone in her category.

That was a typo. It's actually supposed to read "Anna Paquin's Tits, True Blood."

I haven't seen In Bruges, but I saw the trailer, unfortunately, in front of every single movie I saw in the first half of 2008. It's one of the worst trailers ever made: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7mR-sIf-w1w

In Bruges is almost the only nomination I agree with. It's such a great flick, and considering how hard I laughed through it, I'd definitely say it's a comedy. Dark, sure, but hilarious.

In Bruges was one of my favorite movies of the year. It had a little person. And what's more is that Colin Farrell elaborates on why midgets are awesome. You cannot beat that.

Glad to see In Bruges getting love in the comments. I laughed out loud through most of the scenes. "You're an inanimate fucking object!" I need to watch it again soon.

In Bruges is good, but super-depressing. The esteemed Hollywood Foreign Press must've REALLY liked the trailer for the movie, since it's the one of the very few comedic things having to do with the film.

"In Bruges" was one of my favorite films this year, and I was so afraid it was gonna have the same fate as "Zodiac" last year 'cause they both were released in the early spring and "Zodiac" got shafted come awards time. So glad the people at the Golden Globes actually saw movies that came out before last month.

In Bruges, more than anything, made me hate the writer of In Bruges.
here's the movie:
Action scene! Sad scene! Unfunny jokey scene! Someone getting shot in the head!
put those on shuffle for 2 hours.
please. there's a white supremacist midget. how lame is that.

just to wrap this up: in bruges was one of the best films i saw. i even saw it twice in the theater. and was a comedy. very dark humor does not make it a drama.

Anyone who cannot see the funny side of Colin Farrell trying to explain to a family of average Floridians why they might not fit up the spiral staircase of a medieval church would have a problem calling In Bruges a comedy. The rest of normal society will understand the label a bit better.

Oh, I see. It's funny because they're fat. If this movie gets a nomination, we have to retroactively nominate "Two Days In The Valley". They are equally sucky for the same reasons.

And Andy, anyone who cannot see the funny side of Colin Farrell trying to explain to fat people why they can't fit up the stairs of a medieval church is probably said fatass Floridians (or some equally lame state) and isn't intelligent enough to find the humor in it... After all, they weren't smart enough to avoid becoming obese, so how can you expect much from them? God I hate this country and it's majority of obese idiots. Can't wait to leave.

Oh, and by the way, Charles, they're called 'Dwarfs,' not 'Midgets,' and this one wasn't necessarily a white supremacist. Saying that there's going to be a war between whites and blacks doesn't immediately make you a racist, it may just make you observant. He said nothing else in the script that would indicate that he hates non-whites.
