Are You Guys Watching Lost? Because You Should Be Watching Lost

thumbnail icon: Are You Guys Watching Lost? Because You Should Be Watching Lost

O. M. God.

Are you guys watching Lost? Because you should be watching Lost. These numbers are concerning me. Last week's ratings were lackluster. The New York Times reported that "the show's two-hour fifth-season premiere averaged 11.4 million viewers, a decline of nearly 5 million from a year ago." I read somewhere that those numbers increase by 35% if you add in people who watch the show on DVR, but still. YOU BETTER DRUMLINE, Lost fans.

But I'm not actually talking to people who already watch the show. This post is for people who have never watched the show. What are you doing? Reading? Get with the program, you guys. She's not writing any more Harry Potter books! Time for a new storyline to follow.

By the time you get to the fifth season of a show there aren't a lot of people making the request that people start watching now. It's assumed that the ship has sailed. But that is exactly what I am doing. Rent the DVDs and get ready for a wonderful adventure on a mysterious island! Last night's episode was so good. I can't wait for you to see it with the knowledge of the previous four seasons behind you.

Like, this scene?

This scene is great. You don't even know. It must seem like total gibberish to you. Why is everyone yelling? That little boy is so insolent! You have got to catch up. My apologies in advance for season 3. That is going to be terrible. But season 4 is very strong. And then you will just have your mind completely f'ed by this season. Don't even start watching this season until you have identified your constant.

Did I do it? Are you sold? Get to work!

i didn't watch lost initially but did the whole netflix route watching the first 3 seasons in like 2 weeks. i liked them. but season 4 was boring. i watched the first 2 episodes and the last.

moving the island? not moving the island?

the whole thing is sort of silly.

i tried, i really did.

okay, i think it's kind of general knowledge that season 4 was the best EVER.

but i just realized why you were all "meh!" and that's because you stopped watching right before the hands-down best two episodes of the season: ep 3: the economist (which is about sayid being a major badass - what's not to like?) and ep 5: the constant (which focuses on desmond, and is totally epic). so.... i say you should give it another chance. seriously, i'm saying this for YOUR sake. and there was the one with the amazing locke flashback that included RICHARD. dude. you just need to watch it! it was sooo good!

You watched the first two episodes of season 4 and the last? How did you know it was boring. The first episode of season 4, The Beginning of the End, like any other season opener, is just THE OPENER. It sets up the pieces on the table. The second episode, Confirmed Dead, was pretty solid, as was the season finale. But you missed some of the biggest revelations. 'The Constant' and 'The Shape of Things to Come' were two of the best episodes of last year alone. Catch up buddy.

"Desperate Housewives"? Of course not. But everyone should start watching "DOOL", like, yesterday. Nicole is about to pass-off Sami's latest baby-with-EJ as her own baby-with-EJ and (OMG!) EJ is going to fall for it because he is not as evil and smart as he used to be (and you can tell because they stopped dying his hair black).

I think last night's episode was amazing for the simple fact that Kate was not on it. The only thing that could have made it better would be if Kate HAD been on it, being killed over and over again.

I started watching this show when it was midway through it's second season. After that season's finale I tried, and failed, to get my friends interested in the show. Three weeks after I finally convinced them to watch the pilot, we were all watching season 3's premire. This show has a way of grabbing you right in the first few minutes of the first episode.
Last time I checked Abc.com has every episode of Lost on it. check it out!

What the hell is wrong with you people. Lost is some of the worst garbage on TV besides maybe daytime television. The writers obviously have no fucking idea where the story is going and throw in random "twists" to hide that fact. And as your clip makes so painfully apparent, the soundtrack, if you can call it that, is atrocious (reminds me of Jason Segel's characters job in "Forgetting Sarah Marshall").

Have you ever watched the show? Can you explain to me what Hermann Minkowski said about time being a spatial dimension? Or how Stephen Hawking theorized that through wormholes, time travel can be possible. Or how the Casimir Effect proves that exotic matter, elements of material that go against the laws of modern physics, when trapped in a vacuum develops a wormhole conducive to Hawking's theory? Or how David Hume believes that compatibalism is the essential key to human life? Or how Jeremy Bentham was the founder of utilitarinism? Or how Michel Foucault believed that the panopticon is a suitable metaphor for how our society is constantly guarded and observed? Probably not. Because you'd probably mistake these for stupid "twists" that the unintelligent viewing public of America so righteously craves. Imbecile. Go read The Unbearable Lightness of Being again you pseduo-intellect. It's a fucking BUTTERFLY.

John Locke is going to go back in time and kill the young Charles Widmor. The current Widmor will then die and Penny will dissappear and so Desmond will lose his constant and go nuts. The whole show is inside the brain of Hurley's stomach.

I read a story recently that said the Lost producers were initially worried about Nestor wearing makeup, but it turns out his eyes just look perma-lined . . . they did have to keep disciplining him when he'd start to slip and repeat "Soooousan we need your article Sooosan!" over and over again though. Bad habits die hard.

Have you re-watched season 3 after watching season 4. I watched seasons 1-4 through again and 3 is much better than I remembered, although when I watched it live I wasn't so into it, especially that Nikki + Paulo episode,( oh god what a waste of time.) But now I view that episode as I would a "joke-y" X-files episode (ie Jose Chung). Great episode last night, pretty sure we're re-visiting a season 1 episode next week (http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Do_No_Harm prob this one where Claire gives birth judging from the promo) Stoked on seeing Locke seeing Locke seeing the Light come up through the hatch window

What's with all the season 3 hate? Season 2 got the bulk of the complaints. 'Man of Science, Man of Faith' and 'Orientation' started the season pretty well, but it went tone deaf for a while until Henry Gale (Ben Linus) showed up in 'One of Them'. Still, in retrospect, season 2 did give us the bulk of the mythology that provides the lynchpin for the emotional investment of the show. The public reaction to season three was NOT as heated. The 6 episode mini pod was a dumb move on Cuse and Lindelof's part, but we did get to know the Others a little bit better. And when the show came back after the mini pod, we got great episodes with Juliet's backstory ('Not in Portland') and then one of the biggest mindfucks in the show's history, Desmond's consciousness' first time traveling through spacetime ('Flashes Before Your Eyes'). Then we had 'Enter 77', 'The Man from Talahasse', 'The Brig', 'The Man Behind The Curtain', 'Greatest Hits' and the episode that made our minds and respective genetilia explode, 'Through The Looking Glass'.

THEY HAVE TO GO BACK?! WHAT?!
