Great, Now Australia Knows Fred Phelps Exists

The Reverend "Die Already!" Fred Phelps is rejoicing in the Lord's destruction-by-fire of property and human lives in Australia for the crime of, no shit, having birthed Heath Ledger, who played a gay character in a movie before he died. Judging from this bewildered tone of this Aussie news report, the country was blissfully unaware of Fred Phelps's evil existence before now:

"Filthy Australian beasts." "Thank God for the dead people." UGH. Somehow it seems worse when Fred Phelps aims his hate at another country, and one suffering a huge loss. I think Obama needs to get involved, here.

Fred Phelps HAS to be gay. There is no other reason for him to be so afraid of it.

Why would the country of Australia be doomed because one of it's residents was in a movie where he kissed another man. It wasn't produced by the country of Australia, the country of Australia wasn't there at the premiere, it's not like Heath was thinking "I don't want to do this film, but if I don't Australia is going to be PIIIIISSED."

Lame.

Crazy doesn't have to make sense.
Can't Fred Phelps and his clan just follow the typical cult path and kill themselves already?

The thing I don't get is, if they want people to stop being gay, shouldn't they be reaching out to them, instead of just insulting them?

American Christians are all retards any way.

I agree that Christians should be reaching out to the gay community (something we horribly botched yet again with Prop 8) but Fred Phelps doesn't represent American Christianity any more than Islamic terrorists represent Islam. He is just a hate filled horrible person. So yes, Christians should not insult the gay community, nor should anyone. But no, Christians are not all 'retards'.

i think most gay people will tell you that having a christian 'reach out' to you won't make you not-gay. it might help you stay in the closet longer and ignore you natural inclination, but being gay isn't something that can be, nor needs to be, fixed.

which is probably why reverend haterade just decides to give them all up for lost, since he knows they're still harboring the gayness inside them, sinning in their heads.

sorry , but being gay can be and does need to be fixed . religious conversion can and does do so . a case in point is british novelist evelyn waugh . gay pride ?! why be proud of an affliction ?

I love how he says that: "Australia is doomed," like hellfire is raining from the heavens upon it, or some shit. The fires were terrible, but it was an isolated incident. The rest of Australia? Perfectly fine.

He is one of the most evil people in the world and should die and suffer an eternity of unpleasant anal rape from satan himself. I can't believe that some berieved family member has killed him at one of his classy funeral protests. I hate that this man exists much less has a forum for his insanity.

I think at some point the whole Westboro thing is going to turn out to be a massive joke. For the love of God, that's gotta be it.

I'm Australian and although I'm no murderer I'd LOVE to kill this man and his entire cult with a customized flame thrower.

Phelps! you're going to die soon!
