TMZ has uncovered some of the raw footage from the fight that Ronnie got into on the boardwalk on an episode of Jersey Shore. Now, if you will remember correctly, Ronnie, who is built like a stupid lamp tank, was being heckled by a drunk dude, shoved Sammi (kind of), and then used his classic Windmill Attack before evading the police and running home to apologize to his girlfriend for the whole situation fiasco. But as this footage (after the jump) reveals, before Ronnie got into a violent conflict that could have easily been avoided by just going home or ignoring the man’s taunts, he also threw in some homophobic comments, which were carefully edited out of the show, because MTV is nothing if not a clever girl when it comes to keeping your reality TV characters semi-likable despite their natural impulses through the use of strategic editing. HOLLYWOOD MAGIC!

Haha. Faggots wear flip flops and are bald! Classic. Whatever, this is literally this month’s cover story of Duh Aficionado. “Cast of Jersey Shore Engage In Casual Homophobia On Regular Basis OBVIOUSLY.”

“No duh, Watson.” — Sherlock Noduholmes.

I’m still actually way more upset that the show acted like it was an OK thing to commit aggravated assault on another human being as long as you apologized to your girlfriend afterwards. This footage probably just didn’t make it into the episode not because it would have made Ronnie look bad, but because it was TOO on the nose. He is a human being, not a caricature, you guys! (Just kidding.)

  1. Seaside Heights police are on the lookout for a short dark-skinned man with an aggressive attitude and an affinity for tough talk which gets him into trouble. The sheriff’s office released this composite sketch:

  2. Fortunately, while the rest of the cast continue to display bouts of questionable judgment, Snooki is displaying bouts of brave new adventures:

  3. Wow…did anyone else think you could cut the sexual tension with a knife? Then use said knife to assault someone?

    • I guess regular guys are all homophobic assholes.

      • Before we jump all over stlolth for being a slur dropping bigot, I think he’s referring to how common stuff like this really is. And he’s right, this is “regular.” Exceptionally common. If you get in a verbal confrontation with a stranger, chances are he will call you a “faggot.” Whether you think that’s good or bad is besides the point, stlolth’s stance that this isn’t newsworthy is 100% true.

        • Also, i think we’re kind of being dicks. (NO HOMO!)
Is it really right to say that it’s a duh that “Cast of Jersey Shore Engage In Casual Homophobia On Regular Basis OBVIOUSLY”, because Ronnie called some guy a faggot during an argument? It’s on the same disingenuous, sensationalistic level as TMZ calling the 10 second clip a “Homophobic Tirade”.

          • While I know that regular guys routinely call each other faggots, most of them probably do not yell “You fucking faggot… you fucking queer” at a stranger in public while they know that they are being filmed.

          • Of course i can’t outright dismiss that most guys only call each other faggots in private, do it with calm and even tempers, and don’t yell “fucking”. But maybe they do if the stranger is picking a fight with them.

          • I agree with you in that it isn’t quite uncommon for guys to call each other “fag” and “queer”, etc. But I feel like the way you’re addressing it is “It’s not a problem, lots of guys do it.” Yeah, lots of guys do it, but yeah it is a problem. Not to be condescending, but I don’t think you understand how hurtful these words are.

          • It’s not a problem of the caliber it was presented here. Singling out Ronnie as some kind of huge homophobe for using them in short, angry outburst during a fight was unwarranted.

          • I see your point, but think of how it would be viewed if, instead, he used a bunch of racial epithets.

P.S. I think we “single out” people who use hugely offensive slurs as homophobic/racist/misogynistic assholes becase, regardless of the context, whoops, that’s a homophobic/racist/misogynistic asshole thing to say! I’m not attacking you personally, stlolth, by the way. I just feel the need to clarify this.

          • That’s just it, we don’t single them out, not in such a way. Someone mentioned that louis c.k. uses the same term, but he hasn’t been singled out by Gabe. The whole tone of the post is that of a most horrible trespass by a very horrible individual. Not that of a usual, common trespass (and part of a larger, common problem) by a regular individual, which even though offensive, doesn’t even have to indicate planned, aggressive homophobia.

In today’s society we are very conscious of how horrible and damaging is to use the N-word. Being conscious of that, only someone very callous and/or racist would use it. But that is not the case with “faggot”, which is very commonly used and often without a conscious or direct homophobic intent.

          • Welp, maybe this is the product of some sort of divide, but where I am, “faggot” is not commonly used. And I think the point you’re missing here when you say the word is “very commonly used and often without a conscious or direct homophobic intent” is that, regardless, it is still homophobic. It has less to do with the intent and more to do with how it’s received. Ronnie wouldn’t have called that guy a faggot if “faggot” wasn’t thought of as a lame, weak thing to be, and he was responding to the threat of being viewed as lame and weak. Out of fear. That’s homophobia (though less direct.)

But I do get your point that maybe this is a bit overblown. I think “homophobic tirade” is too strong, albeit for a different reason. A tirade this ain’t. It’s just a bit of an angry yell.

          • Just a few posts away you agreed that it’s common for guys to call each other “faggot” and now it’s not common, but where you come from? Where do you come from, SOCIALISEDHOTELPRISONIA? Anyway, the point you’re missing that even though homophobic, it’s not on the level and in the way portrayed on videogum and tmz.

          • Addendum: Because you only mentioned TMZ and omitted Videogum. KTNXBAI

          • Oh my god, longest Videogum argument ever! I think we deserve a medal/Editor’s Choice this week.

I meant that, in my social circle [in high school! surpriiiiiiise] if a guy calls another guy a fag, people around him go “What the fuck dude, don’t do that.”

In conclusion: no, this isn’t a tirade, and it’s not the insult of the century, but yes, it is homophobic. YAYYYYY

  5. Ronnie’s words are yucky, like his face!

  6. To be fair, that wasn’t Ronnie. The roid-rage was speaking for him and that guy’s a total homophobe!

  7. What is he, 30?

  8. I side with Louis CK on usage of the word faggot. People are too quick to attach a homophobic connotation to it. Louis says it all the time and he got a Videogum promise.

    • I get what you’re saying, but it’s all about context. When guys use the word during a fight, it’s obviously meant to mess with their masculinity. That is incredibly homophobic. By calling the other guy a faggot, they try to get into his head and make him feel inferior and submissive. Again, using the word is about emasculation, and that’s disturbing.
I respect the point Louis was trying to make, it was hilarious and raised some interesting questions about the power of language, but I really don’t agree with him. That word has a terrible connotation for a fuckload of gay men, and to simply throw it around casually is just disrespectful at best.

      • I see where you are coming from, but Louis’s usage of “faggot” is also meant to deride somebody’s masculinity. As are the majority of male insults. “Pussy”, “bitch”, “sally”, “pansy”, and my personal favorite “dress wearin’ spinach dip maker.” This is just how guys work. Emasculation can’t be viewed as just another form of homophobia.

        • So then if it’s supposed to be disrespectful to question someones masculinity, then if it isn’t homophobic, it’s still sexist. It implies that being feminine is bad. It’s a result of bigoted thinking. Ideal straight men are this way, ideal straight women are that way. People who don’t fit into those categories are given labels which are then thrown around to be as hurtful as possible. It’s not even like “nigga” where one can argue that a person who is not black could be using it in a respectful fashion to foster cameraderie.

If you see someone you think might be gay, you yell out faggot, and possibly beat the shit out of him. If you see a straight guy who you want to beat the shit out of, you call him a faggot to liken him to something undesirable and unrespectable. Just like you call someone a piece of shit, because hey- shit is awful. Faggots are awful.

What Louis CK, as funny as he is, is doing is trying to strip someone of their feelings- dismiss and minimize their pain for his own gratification. Which is what happens to homosexuals on a daily basis, even without him (or Ronnie, or people who are for some reason defending Ronnie) adding on.

  9. I don’t believe it! Next you’ll be telling me he snorts coke and takes hgh. BLASPHEMY!

  10. When asked to comment on this story, his nonna said, “No, no, not my sweet Ronnie, he’s a good boy. He would never hurt nobody! Leave, leave, disgrazia! Furfante!”

  11. Ronnie’s victim would have promptly grown hair on the spot out of fear, if only he didn’t have alopecia.

  12. That’s just it, we don’t single them out, not in such a way. Someone mentioned that louis c.k. uses the same term, but he hasn’t been singled out. The whole tone of the post is that of it being an very horrible trespass by a very horrible individual.
