kristenstewartmtv.jpg

I’ve done my own fair share of piling on to the young Twilight and Adventureland actress Kristen Stewart, and I’ll admit that my own impression of her thus far has been that she’s a snobby, too-cool-for-school c-word who doesn’t yet realize that a big part of her job is making us like her. But after seeing this clip from MTV Canada today, in which those horrible people who do the Hills after show gang up on Kristen for not treating their special interview like it was the most important conversation of her life, and who flat-out call her a bitch, it’s time to stand up for the possibly-misunderstood kid on the playground, here. This is just not right. (Note: the video works again!)

(This is the best quality available, but the point definitely comes across):

Just in case anyone missed some of the mean girl dialogue:

“That girl, that…bitch…Someone like her thinks that she is better than you. She’s a high schooly girl who thinks she’s too cool for school…She’s not smart enough to brush it off and make a joke…I hate her face.”

NOW. As I said before, this was my initial impression of Kristen Stewart as well, though not in such harsh words. But maybe because these for-all-intents anonymous tv hosts are so terrible themselves, it’s hard not to feel for Kristen while watching this. There is no doubt that Kristen is lacking in media savvy. There’s no doubt that she doesn’t come across as likable while promoting her movies. These facts are not in dispute. But haven’t we all met at least 100 people who we initially thought were snobby but were really just kind of shy? I’m not saying Kristen doesn’t need to work on her media savvy if she wants to keep her job, but everyone has things they need to work on to be better at their jobs. And being an actress doesn’t necessarily make you good at answering off-the-cuff, sort of rude questions in a charming and immediately likable way. So let’s all give Kristen a break while she grows up a little, and stop punishing her for acting pretty much exactly the way 99% of us would act if forced to be in the same room with one of those horrible Hills after show people.

I always thought that Kristen Stewart came across well in proper interviews – intelligent, thoughtful…but shy and inexperienced in the media spotlight, which you’d expect for an 18 year old. This interview wasn’t helped by the fact that these questions don’t exactly… well are they questions at all? Bad interviews are the result of bad interviewers, usually.

      • Nikki  |   Posted on Mar 26th, 2009 +2

I agree with Natalie completely. Kristen has been asked those same STUPID questions since the beginning. Maybe she’s sick of it, I know I am. I think that guy in the video is sick mad that he couldn’t kiss Rob himself.
People need to lay off of Kristen.

      • Sammy  |   Posted on Jun 8th, 2009 0

I totally agree… they said she was promoting kristen stewarts movie but how is asking a question about Robert Pattinson promoting Adventureland?! And it wasn’t even a properly formed question… just saying his name.

    • Christmas  |   Posted on Apr 22nd, 2009 -1

I WILL NOT be going to see Adventureland now. I was going to see it BECAUSE
of Twilght. I had no interest in her until that movie. Now after several things i have seen in which she behaves horribly to Pats as well is just BS. Shrugging off his arm in the photo shoots dissing him when questions are asked and outrageoulsy putting down the flippin fans who bought the books, movie tickets and basically paid her salary is beyond me. I thinks she is a bitch which is how I found this web site by putting Kristen Stewart bitch – I had no idea of this MTV spot. SO THERE!

  2. the “c-word” is the word “cunt.”

  3. not that i feel bad for celebrities, or any body who makes a shit load of money for doing something not very important…

but i always feel like there’s a double standard here. like if you’re nice in hollywood you’re labeled as fake, but if you’re rude then you’re labeled a bitch or an asshole.

  4. dictums  |   Posted on Mar 19th, 2009 +26

I was the one who put the video on youtube and I got a message from the host asking if I’d take it down because he was in trouble for what he said. I agreed.

Also, THANK YOU. What you said is exactly why I posted it in the first place! I’m glad someone gets it.

  5. EvanD  |   Posted on Mar 19th, 2009 +18

Thanks for writing this. I’m neither here nor there about Stewart (though she is cute and I hear Adventureland is great).

But to me she just comes across as socially awkward. She’s been acting in films for a while, but only in the past 6 months has she been thrust into ‘stardom’. She’s probably overwhelmed.

And with vultures like this out there, who wouldn’t be a little guarded?! If Mario L was calling me a bitch every day just for the hell of it, I’d be a little freaked out too if I was 18 and didn’t know how to brush it off better.

I’ll NEVER see Twilight (or will try not too at least), but that’s not her fault. If anything, she’s one of the more appealing aspects.

  6. Laura  |   Posted on Mar 19th, 2009 +19

This guy and his stupid wench should be fired. I am so sick of people ganging up on Kristen. He calls her a bitch- he should watch another vid that’s on Youtube where some crazy ass fans show up at her HOUSE for autographs, and she is still nice to them and signs everything they ask her to. I know that a lot of celebs would have told those nutjobs where they could shove their Sharpies.

    • I think you’re missing Lindsay’s point. Yes, promoting the movie is part of the job. However, it would be cool if we could cut her a little slack. Choosing to become an actor or actress does not mean that you are an extrovert, although that is easy to assume. Audrey Hepburn was famously introverted. I have no idea if Kristen Stewart is an introvert, or a bitch, or immature. But I do think it’s incredibly judgmental and narrow-minded to call an 18 year old girl a “bitch” just because she is uncomfortable in interviews and in front of paparazzi cameras.

You said it, bro. And i like her in twilight and that horror flick she did, Messengers i think. I even like her portrayal of Bella and her ‘chemistry with Pattz” schtick.
But her attitude is big time rude. She actually behaves like she’s the second coming….I guess she’s really learnt her shiz from Hirsch and Foster.
Like that Levy dude said – she’s like 100% replaceable unless she learns to act grateful.

  8. Bottom line, Stephen King.

  9. I just think that she’s always stoned. At least she always looks stoned to me, that and a little horny. Yep, she’s always stoned and horny.

the hosts of this show are terrible. it’s like, she’s playing the whole submissive “aw but I just was trying to be her friend, you guys! look how innocent I am!” and he’s giving her affirmation “IT’S HER JOB”

  14. I just feel really bad for Dan Levy, when someone says something about him perhaps being attracted to girls. Poor guy probably has to hide his homosexuality for his career (maybe?). It’s just awkward as a gay guy to see him say the most teenage girl complaints, and then pretend he wants girlz.
Kristen Stewart? I don’t mind her one bit.

  15. “She’s not smart enough to brush it off and make a joke” – apparently neither are they.

I don’t understand how people get so hyped up about whether she is nice or not – as far as i know, it is in fact NOT any real actor’s job to be a salesperson; rather, their job is to act well, and/or in Stewart’s case stay looking pretty. I she can manage just one of those two aspects, which she seems capable of doing, she’ll still get work no matter how much you lifeless clowns cry about her not being nice in some interview. To be honest I think it is quite absurd that this is even an issue that anyone would care to write or even talk about in one way or the other.

  18. G  |   Posted on Mar 19th, 2009 +7

How can anyone compare her to Audrey Hepburn? Sure, she was famous for being a little shy, but she was also extremely well-mannered, charming, and gracious. Three qualities Stewart seems to lack. I get the whole “I’m-so-over-this” act that Stewart puts on, but the only way to pull that off is with at least a little bit of charm. You can be real and not be a bitch at the same time. Maybe if she matures and actually appears to be the least bit grateful for having the success she has had, then maybe she wouldn’t be so off-putting.
Then again, we don’t know her personally at all. So no one can judge her. But when you’re an actress you have to put up a front, and make it a damn good front otherwise you’re not going to get anywhere.

  19. BC  |   Posted on Mar 19th, 2009 +16

Okay, first of all. I am sick of women being referred to as “bitches” being so socially acceptable now a days. Did you not see that the actor next to her was uncomfortable about the questions as well? Why didn’t they call him an “ass hole”? Or some other name. I hope Dan Levy gets his ass canned because hello celebrities help pay for your salary as well you female bashing narcissitic egotistical douche. You know deep down he wishes he was her so he would be playing tonque wrestling with Rob. Deep down he’s just jealous. Some one start a petition to get him fired. Do you hear any other celebrities getting called a “bitch” after they have refused to answer questions? There are numerous celebrities that feel uncomfortable or act awkward during interviews. Johnny Depp, Joaquin Phoenix,(prime example on David Letterman…Letterman doesn’t say one mean thing about him afterwards and Joaqiun was 100 times worst) Ellen Paige, Marlon Brando, etc. Our society is so gender biased it makes me sick. Hey Dan I bet you had a good talk with your management after that didn’t you? I hope they laid it on you!

I went to the Viacom.com website and sent an email to them about my disapproval of the hosts bashing and utlizing demeaning terms towards Kristen. This is a show that many young impressionable people watch. This is pure bullying in it’s finest. I was appalled and uncomfortable watching it and I’m wondering if you feel the same? I would suggest any of you who feels as strongly contact Viacom as well that owns MTV. Thanks,

      BC

Where am I from? Does it even matter? Obviously someone at MTV and many others out there who are taught manners do not feel that it is right to just call someone a bitch for simply feeling uncomfortable and not wanting to answer questions. And we all know that the term bitch is utilized way more often towards women. People do have the right to use the the word bitch, as do people have the right to not answer questions. The manner in the way he used the term along with hateful comments on a show geared towards teens who watch the stupid Hills show is wrong. We have an epidemic of bullying around the world that is stemming in-school violence and shootings. If you were an adult who has impressionable teens watching or listening to you, you should not promote this type of hate on something so minuscule.

Here’s Dan Levy’s sad attempt at an apology. Obviously MTV management forced him to do this and are trying to quickly try sweep this under the carpet.
          http://twilighttreasury.blogspot.com/2009/03/dan-levy-apologises-to.html

          • “We have an epidemic of bullying” is quite possibly the most egregiously hilarious thing I’ve heard. We have a war going on, a failing economy and Arrested Development was canceled years ago. To think that society was suffering so harshly because of a stupid comment made by someone very little of the world cares about is more irresponsible than the idea that children would be up watching an “after show” and find themselves influenced by the guy saying “the b word”. Not to sound 50, but I learned about sex in first grade by fellow students and the word “bitch” was hardly the most shocking thing to hear, on a daily account.

The bottom line here is, no one should be so self-entitled to assume they’re above being called a bitch when they are BEING a bitch. That was the proper word for it, he used it, congratulations to him.
If your argument is based on the fact that the girl from Twilight was wronged, there is no starting or finishing rebuttal because the epidemic of bullying is sure to defeat you soon.
            Sorry.

  20. Laura  |   Posted on Mar 19th, 2009 -3

Sure, her Adventureland co-star was uncomfortable, because he probably felt like he was carrying the entire interview, judging from Stewart’s reactions. Most of you people have clearly never watched MTV, or the Aftershow. They have fun, they crack jokes, but I really don’t think the questions Jesse was asking were out of line? She wasn’t asking about drug use, or sex or anything like that…she was asking innocent questions I think to make the people feel comfortable. I honestly just think little Kristen Stewart thought she was high and above the MTV Canada interview. If she wasn’t, she should learn how to show it seeing as she has three more movies to do with this series.

    • andrea  |   Posted on Mar 20th, 2009 -3

i agree with you Laura. i watch the after show all the time. they don’t call people bitches all the time, but they make jokes about celebrities. you guys have probably never seen the after show if you are defending Kristen and bashing Dan and Jessi.

I don’t really have an opinion of Kristen Stewart as I’ve not seen her in anything, but I can’t thank you enough for finally bringing national attention to the awfulness of the hills aftershow people. jail. now.

  22. I think you are all going a little overboard calling her an actress

  23. Amanda  |   Posted on Mar 20th, 2009 -4

I Agree with the host.. Kristen was soo beyond rude, rolling her eyes at the interview.. Yes she is awkward in interviews but if someone did that to me when i was talking to them i’d be pissed. Its Rude, especially seeing the interviewer is doing this in part from the canadian side of MTV.. To the youth of canada.. Great example to show.. That you are so ungreatful.. Doesnt matter the questions, every celebrity gets the same thing, same 100 questions over and over.. She is an actor, Effing act dammit.. That Sh*t is paying your bills.. At least pretend your into it.. Stupid Ungrateful Bitch

    • lol  |   Posted on Mar 22nd, 2009 0

This interview was about Adventureland, and the host asks her about Robert Pattinson, while her co-star is sitting there. Now that my friend is rude.

  24. I tell ya, they only come out at night… or in this case once the word “Twilight” is mentioned.

  25. Kristen’s behavior is fine. We have more than enough simpering, brown nosing empty headed celebrities out there. Isn’t it acceptable yet to be a bit aloof and distracted?
Oh and I can’t really see the eye roll.. but whatever. Commentary is commentary, and commentators are usually that because they’re funny/ bitchy.

    • Christine  |   Posted on Apr 22nd, 2009 -2

Look, this isnt the first interview that I ‘ve seen her behave indifferently and rude. Her father also made a crappy comment about the movie not being good enough for her to appear at the Oscars with Rob. She avoids contact with Rob in photo shoots and gives off a you are lucky to be in my presence attitude. AND I have seen where she is brushing off Robs arm in photo shoots as if she is annoyed by him. She is a B

  26. Jessica  |   Posted on Mar 20th, 2009 +8

About the rolling the eyes part, I don’t actually think she was “rolling her eyes” at the ridiculous questions. You don’t actually know what was going on, such as distractions or whatnot. Most likely, rolling eyes doesn’t require a person turning their head (at least in my opinion).

Although, I did find it a little awkward how she didn’t even attempt to answer the questions.

  27. ceecee  |   Posted on Mar 20th, 2009 +6

TOTALLY AGREE WITH THIS! dan levy was way out of line. If they wanted her to take the interview seriously, they shouldve asked better & well-thought out questions. not one that has been repeatedly asked to KS for the last year. FINALLY an article backing up kristen!

  28. Court  |   Posted on Mar 20th, 2009 +5

I agree with Ceecee! And everyone else who is backing up Kristen. You can’t judge someone you don’t know and those people most certainly do not know her! Ugh, whats the world coming too. And they SHOULD have thought up a good question. She probably get that in allll her interviews. I mean come on!!! What kind of questions is that anyway? Who bloody cares?! Kristen is in her right to react how she wants to a question and did it occur to anyone that perhaps she is serious when it comes to movies because she feels strongly to them! Jeez! I wouldn’t like to be asked that question either, but, hey thats just me

  29. Sally  |   Posted on Mar 20th, 2009 +10

The host was ridiculously inappropriate. All actors have bad interviews after all day press junkets – that does not mean that they should be disected and called a b**** on air. Not to mention they single out Kristen while Jesse Eisenberg, her co-star, who was equally quiet and awkward doesn’t catch any flack.
For someone calling her unprofessional, that host’s actions were some of the most unprofessional moments i’ve seen on TV in a long time. Talk about not biting the hand that feeds you – do you know how much publicity and viewership and good will Twilight has garnered MTV in the past year!? A lot. He is the one s***ting where he lives so to speak.

  30. Cee  |   Posted on Mar 20th, 2009 +5

I agree that Kirsten always looks uncomfortable in interviews. I also think she isnt an extrovert person. And ok, maybe she could have answered that question with a little grace. But come on, what Dan Levy and that other host did, is waaaay worse. They publicy humiliait her and judge her right away. Call her names. I mean, Kirsten is an 18 year old. The hosts are like adults? They should know better. Just cut her some slack. I sure think there is a reason behind why she is like she is in interviews. Who’s right is it to judge her anyway?

  31. Poor Kristen.

So hard being famous! No one has done it before her and seen the negative side of fame! How could she have known this would happen? She’s only 18 and been acting since she was very young. This is all so new and unexpected to her!

She’s right to treat everyone like shit :) Serves them right for caring about her movie and her as an actress!

You go girl, keep playing that introverted, awkward wall-flower like every movie you’ve done, and ignore them haters!

  32. JayGee  |   Posted on Mar 20th, 2009 +6

No matter what somebody’s opinion of her is, she does not deserve this kind of ridicule. How mature are these people to call her names and put her down just because they didn’t like her in an interview? I just don’t see why everyone is making such a big deal about how she acts or what she says when she is in public. I’m embaressed for these interviewers who earn a living by putting down 18 year old girls.

  33. Angelica  |   Posted on Mar 20th, 2009 +4

Finally! Someone who gets it. As the ultimate ‘Shy Girl’ myself, I was shocked that people saw my awkwardness as being stuck-up and bitchy. So, when I see Kristen, I see myself and it’s completely obvious to me it’s a shy girl mis-understand at the core. She’ll get better with time. :)

  34. Angelica  |   Posted on Mar 20th, 2009 +3

I’m glad you pointed that out! Even though it’s not just her there in the interview, it’s Kristen that gets all the blame!!! Ridiculous.

  35. Rafael  |   Posted on Mar 20th, 2009 +3

That is totally ridiculous. I would have done the same if I had been interviewed by such stupid interviewers.
And who that guy thinks he is? He said Kristen was rude but he was so impolite by calling her a b***.

Kristen is not part of that group of celebrities who always have a fake smile on their faces and who are always trying to sound cool and cheerful and that’s why I admire her. She’s authentic.

  36. Throwing in my two cents: They’re horrible hosts, She’s horrible at interviews, and MTV isn’t really television but background noise.

  37. Jennifer  |   Posted on Mar 20th, 2009 +6

Well, I don’t really blame Kristen. I mean, how would you act if people kept asking you stupid questions like “How did it feel to kiss Rob/a vampire?” I’d be annoyed, too. When I’ve seen her in good interviews with decent questions she just seems shy.

  38. lalalala  |   Posted on Mar 20th, 2009 -3

okay, if all of you are “SO SICK OF ALL HER SHIT” then when she pops up, turn off your effing television!!
    FACTS:
    1. you dont KNOW HER.
    2. she’s an ACTOR, not a professional interviewee
    3. the host was WAY OUT OF LINE for bashing her like that beacause…
    4. HE DOESNT KNOW HER.
    5. she’s been asked those same questions millions of times and i dont blame her for getting sick of people asking them.
    6. YOU’D GET SICK OF IT TOO!

    SO BASICALLY,
    stop bashing her. its disrespectful.

  39. andrea  |   Posted on Mar 20th, 2009 +1

it is her job to answer those sorts of questions. she has no right to be rude to the interviewer. this isn’t even the first time she was rude in an interview, she does it all the time.i bet there was a lot of actresses who wanted to be Bella in twilight who would answer those questions. its about time someone called her a bitch

  40. I don’t know who this person is beyond being a famous person, but seeing those pictures of her smoking weed on a stoop made her instantly likable to me.

  41. shame on you lindsay. the show this clip is from is “the aftershow” which is simply candid discussions with smart opinionated people, discussions just like the ones you’d have in private with your friends. or more like the discussions you share on THIS blog everyday! What Dan and Jessi do is the exact same thing you get paid to do for videogum! The Aftershow is extremely forward thinking in the way it combines new media with television style media. I think your problem with Dan’s comment doesn’t have anything to do with him being “mean girl dialogue”, but you just don’t understand the context.

and honestly, you think you need to defend kristen stewart? honestly? kristen stewart? you’ve never even considered before.

  42. Twifanatic Amanda  |   Posted on Mar 20th, 2009 0

People are so judgemental when it come to Kristen Stewart. I’ve liked her even before Twilight and I think she’s a great actress. People pick out the stupid little things she says and does and implies in her interviews and then call her an ungrateful bitch. I can’t stress enough how many times I’ve seen that said about her. It’s pretty ridiculous. People need to get over it. Kristen Stewart is here to stay and I love it.

  43. Holy crap when did the videogum comment thread become populated with 14-yr olds who actually care what people say/think about Kristen Stewart… I mean, I had to read the post to even find out who the heck she was!

  48. Courtney   |   Posted on Mar 20th, 2009 +1

Ok well we all know Kristen isn’t the best interviewee. But what that guy said about her was a total over reaction. Kristen wasn’t doing that stuff to be rude or that she didn’t care, that’s just her personality and both of those The Hills after show loser need to get over it. If they don’t like her they shouldn’t have showed the interview. You just showed it as an excuse to bitch about something because there lives are full of drama and cant live with out it. I mean come on they host a after show about The Hills! Can we say DRAMA QUEENS!

  49. J  |   Posted on Mar 20th, 2009 +1

“As I said before, this was my initial impression of Kristen Stewart as well, though not in such harsh words.”

You called her a CUNT, Lindsay. Am I missing the joke?

  50. Anonymous  |   Posted on Mar 20th, 2009 +6

My question is, how can anyone say Kristen isn’t doing her job? Her job then was to promote Adventureland. Yet there are numerous clips of Kristen being asked the same old questions about the whole Twilight universe while her costar has to uncomfortably sit there, waiting until the interviewer asks them some questions about what they’re are actually there to talk about: Adventureland.

  51. Kate  |   Posted on Mar 20th, 2009 0

Kristen has always been courteous and presents herself very well however she is very shy. She has said she has a hard time putting herself out there but realizes it is important for her job. This was an interview? This idiot did not ask a question, it was a statement. Kristen’s co-star did not know how to answer. I have seen him in other interviews and he has done very well, as Kristen has. However this person interviewing was an immature ass who only wanted to make herself seem superior to them. I feel bad for actors who have to put up with this rudeness from so called hosts. Kristen is shy, not rude. She doesn’t think she’s too cool, she’s quiet and she’s intelligent, unless those hosts. As for being smart enough to make a joke? Well if the hosts would have done their homework, they would have realized she’s a very logical person – something she has also said. I feel so bad for Kristen with the way she was treated afterwards. Being a quiet person myself, I know it eats away at you. I’m sure she would love to be bubbly and talkative, but she can’t. Leave her alone! Those hosts were nothing but rude asses and they should be fired. They were intentionally rude and disrespectful, just for a laugh. Shame on you, lowlifes.

  52. Wow this girl is really polarizing the vox populi.

Yeah, no. It’s not part of the job description if you don’t ever want to make another movie again. So I guess you’re well on your way to that. Or that people will actually pay money to come see you in. Which is probz how you’re gonna buy/score more pot. You need to kind of show you have chops before you can Sean Penn the sitch. In the meantime, you should know that the camera is going to pick up on your massive eye roll.

Wait. That’s Eugene Levy’s SON? I think that’s fucking hilaaaaarious.

Dear God, please LOST me out of this situation to back before I knew what Twilight was. THX!

“…But haven’t we all met at least 100 people who we initially thought were snobby but were really just kind of shy?”

I’m one of those people, all of my friends have told me that the first time they saw/met me they thought I was stuck up…i’m really not (I’m very nice in fact!)

In a way I am defending her (and I’m not a twilight fan..never saw the movie). It’s difficult to cozy up to others quickly, but once you do those people become your close friends. Anyways in interviews she has stated that she hates doing interviews, plus it would be annoying to get asked questions on someone else other than yourself. It’s like, “enough about you, lets talk about…”

I bet in the years to come, she’ll become comfortable with interviews

i have never seen twilight nor do i have plans of seeing it. no, i am not being snooty — i just don’t like my vampires to sparkle :) but i digress. an actors job is to act. that is it. they are not paid to be nice. they are well paid because their movies make oodles of money.

  55. This is the scariest comments section ever on VideoGum.

Twilight fans just freak me out.

    Cult of Twilight.

“Kristen killed those babies cuz they were looking at her weird… she’s shy ok? I was shy once too and I wanted to murder people that looked at me weird. No reason to call her a ‘murderer’, that’s just a mean society label. She is great, and her job isn’t to not kill people!”

    • archer  |   Posted on Mar 24th, 2009 +2

that is really the fucking dumbest thing i think i have EVER heard . . . yeah not answering a question to some canadian reporter’s satisfaction is really the same thing as murder. . . WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG IN YOUR HEAD?

What’s wrong with people these days? Why do they have to be so judgmental? So what if Kristen is a bit more mature and serious for her age? Do people really have to pick on her for that? It’s her personality. She isn’t going to change it for anyone. We should just appreciate that she took the time to do the god damn interview. She could have said no to the interview, but she didn’t. Without her, interviewers wouldn’t even have a job. No wonder people are so corrupt in the show business.

What is that guy saying about webbed feet? I’ve rewatched that part like 4 times and I still can’t make it out.

Can we talk about Jesse Eisenberg? He’s the only reason I’m watching Adventureland.

  61. Bottom line: I’d do Kirsten and not those horrible HILLS girls… When I see their faces, the only thing I just can say is: YIKES!

  62. Karen  |   Posted on Mar 23rd, 2009 +1

Its really unprofessional and uncalled for Dan to say those things about Kristen. First of, calling her b****, I didnt even see the eye-rolling. She is really shy and awkward, she even said it herself, but that’s not enough reason to call someone a b****. I actually love her more that she never conforms to hollywood’s idea of a teen star. I also dont understand why people think its necessary for an actor to ACT while being interviewed. you act while your shooting a movie, not when you are introduced as yourself.
secondly, saying that she’s making money off of Rob, its not even the issue, why are they making it sound like she owes it Rob, when it’s actually the other way around. and i never think that she was in this for the money, she wouldn’t be making indie films most of her career if she’s after the money, she’s in it because she likes making movies and getting into these characters (and not to mention that she’s so good at it).
lots of people are being biased against her, if same thing happened to rob, people would definitely forgive him and just brush it off…
She’s very nice to her fans, even in situation and circumstances that’s not very ideal, she’s still very gracious and appreciative of them (though her awkwardness is still there) Give her some credit…

  63. Liam  |   Posted on Mar 23rd, 2009 0

so, you guys, there’s this thing going on outside right now, it’s called “real life”. and in it, no one gives a shit what Kristen Stewart is like in real person (but, since we are on the subject, I find it interesting how they don’t seem to be mad at the kid from Squid and the Whale for making fun of the interviewer’s questions to the interviewer’s face? But she sits there looking uncomfortable and somehow she’s the worst and needs to be sent to etiquette jail? YOU GOT ME STRAIGHT TRIPPIN, BOO!)

  64. Sarah  |   Posted on Mar 24th, 2009 +1

Seriously you did not just defend her by saying she might be just shy or not very media-savvy. It is her job to be media-savvy and, if not outgoing, at least RESPOND to questions that interviwers ask her! I am very familiar with The After Show, and I know that had she said ANYTHING in response to those questions, however uncharming and short it may have been, they wouldn’t have criticised her at all. But you saw the tape, they said that that interview was completely unedited and she didn’t even say anything!
That, combined with the face she was making, leads me to the conclusion that she is exactly what they say. She thinks she is too cool for school and above those interviewers. I don’t believe that she’s shy at all, I think that she needs to realize that that’s her job and if she wants to continue doing it she needs to get over herself.

  65. rachel  |   Posted on Mar 24th, 2009 +2

I feel bad for her, everyone has jumped on the ‘I hate Kristen’ bandwagon for no reason other than she’s a little awkward in interviews, she probably says things out of shyness/insecurity and it seems to come out wrong for her. Let’s not forget she’s only 18 and has been thrown into the biggest book/movie saga madness since Harry Potter. And besides if I was asked stupid ass questions like that from that twit, i would probably give the same reaction.

  66. patrick  |   Posted on Mar 24th, 2009 +3

so sick of people saying its her job to be media savvy. uh what?? cause like so many people have said before, daniel-day lewis, johnny depp, robert de niro, jodie foster – all those people really have proven to be so media savvy. think of someone like sean penn, whose such a complete media dumbass he actually met and talked about meeting with hugo chavez. . . if anything this makes me like her more because it probably shows how much potential she has because shes all up inside her head, like most great artists. def team kristen.

  67. I really couldn’t care less about anyone involved in this but man, bizarro gay Rivers Cuomo is MEAN!!

  68. harry  |   Posted on Mar 24th, 2009 +3

maybe she couldnt answer because they were the stupidest fucking questions ever . . .

  70. irr  |   Posted on Mar 30th, 2009 -1

alright, whoever is saying that she should just smile and make something up to make everyone happy…that is some bullshit. her honest reactions to these dumb ass questions is actually refreshing…i dont want to see anymore bullshit actors just saying what they think they should say or what everyone wants to hear. she’s an actress and very lucky to be in the position she is in, thats all well and good, but she’s also a normal person with some sense of what is actually worth her time. i commend her for being real with that annoying ass interviewer

  71. t.  |   Posted on May 11th, 2009 0

wow, you are completely ignorant!! why don’t you try a legitimate defense maybe one that doesn’t rely on your obvious dislike for another country. bravo bravo, kudos for you for being an intelligent american. people like you are the reason the united states is the world’s most widely hated country.

  72. t.  |   Posted on May 11th, 2009 +2

First: Those twilight “fans” who haven’t read twilight have no idea who bella is as a character so stop getting involved in debates of whether kristen played the character well, you don’t know.
Second: Personally I think Kristen is not Bella, i think she did a terrible job portraying who i pictured as Bella, thats solely from my interpretation of the books.
Thirdly: Whether or not I liked how she played Bella has no bearing on how I think of her as a person, but her action and words do. She has absolutely no respect for her fans, and stop blaming her being 18. I am 18 and I know better. Its all about her having an attitude that is off-putting.
Fourthly: DAn can say whatever hew likes about Kristen being a bitch if she insists on insulting others. It goes both ways, she called Twilight fans “retarded” that is not only disrespectful but also politically incorrect and an insult to an array of people making a disability and insult. Now, i’m not saying i don’t say this becasue i do, but i am simply saying if she can say what she wants so can he. and if shes going to be a bitch someone will call her out on it .

  73. melissa  |   Posted on May 13th, 2009 +1

kristen stewart is a bitccccccccch god. if someone rolled there eyes at me id fucking smack them in the face even if it was regular conversation let alone an interview where shes being fucking PAID to answer, where her very answers are going to be aired on television for entertainment. Who the fuck feels bad for celebrities honestly…. l’m soooo sorry you had to answer an “unintelligent question” but thats what happens when you make the movie TWILIGHT for god sakes what the fuck kind of intelligent question can one ask about such a film under any circumstance? And she better get used to being called a bitch, shes famous.

  74. anonymous  |   Posted on May 20th, 2009 0

I think kristen partner is uneasy with kristen in a way you can also look with kristen that she is uneasy with her partner for some reason there is no blending with the promotion of their movie, well all i can say is “kristen actor is your job, as you enjoy it and you earn very well for doing your job, at least give respect to other people around you, remember they are the one can help you to reach your success, and can ruin your carreer, specially with your fans, and reports…whatever the publicity i think you should be a little bit matured, remember you are in showbusiness a lot of people is watching you and giving you criticism good, bad and ugly…GROW UP GIRL!!!

  75. Emily  |   Posted on May 30th, 2009 0

DAN LEVY IS THE MAN. He was expressing his opinion. An opinion I strongly agree with. It happened, it’s done. Be over it. She had it coming.

  76. daisy  |   Posted on May 31st, 2009 0

Ofcourse she rolled her eyes at the question about Robert Pattinson, if you think of how many interviews shes done, every single one will have contained at least 1 question about him. The interview she was doing here wasnt even for twilight, Rob had nothing to do with it so why should he have been brought up? For all the people saying that she should be promoting the film, the questions that the host was asking, wasnt really related to the film, sure the on screen kissing thing, but thats not exactly an original, genuine, worthy question. For all those people who think shes a bitch, have you even seen her other interviews? Not just the clips that this video shows here? Because this clip has been presented at an angle, only putting the bad part in and downgrading it so it makes people think its worse than it already is. The lady is unbelievably fake, and they are calling Kristen bitchy when they are slagging her off on the chance that people will find it funny or entertaining? And then the lady said all this innocent crap saying “oh, well, maybe I shouldnt have asked her that?!” which is obvious that she doesnt believe it, and knows that the audience wont, which is making it worse for kristen by manipulating the audience into thinking that the host lady did no wrong. They could both use a lesson on honesty and how to be genuine. They sound like they could be the biggest bullies in the playground. They probably were. They should get fired.

  77. amy  |   Posted on Jun 2nd, 2009 0

I completely agree with you. It is obvious that Kristen Stewart is completely uncomfortable with the attention and media. Give the poor girl a break!

  78. Jack   |   Posted on Jun 2nd, 2009 0

Okay, maybe if that stupid BITCH interviewer wasnt asking such dumb ad always talked about questions then she would have answered, she is clearly sick of talking about twilight she has been doing it for a year and a half and promoting a different movie and then getting askedquestions about robert pattinson she would roll her eyes. She’s fucking 19 for gods sake give her a fucking brake, she has to go to school whilst filming and so the amout of pressure she has on her no wonder she rolls her fucking eyes. and i hate that guy cause he is snooty and pompus. I have met kirsten stewart in real life and she is the nicest person, i asked her to sign my ipod and she did and at that time she was swormed by paparazzi and fans but she still stopped. I hate these people for judging her by one roll of the eyes. and he is a fucking moron.

  79. Nicole222  |   Posted on Jun 3rd, 2009 0

She is def a bitch. And it’s not just this interview. Watch her interviews with Letterman and Reggis and Kelly. She is rude. She rolls her eyes and smirks at everyone. It’s too bad someone else didn’t play Bella in Twilight. I love the books and would enjoy the movies so much more if a talented actress without the attitude and cockiness played Bella.

  80. JJ  |   Posted on Jun 3rd, 2009 0

I think this girl is just stupid, not a bitch. She is an actress! If you can’t handle things just pretend that you can!I understand that fame was rapid but if she can’t answer the journalists’ simple questions now, what the hell will she do in the future?

  81. Anna  |   Posted on Jun 10th, 2009 0

Can everyone stop bringing up the fact that she’s JUST 18 years old?! Thats no reason to be socially awkward because 18 means youre techinically an adult. And besides there are child actors under the age of 12 that can come up with great answers and dont shy away during interviews. Even they can understand that the interviews are part of the job description

  82. Joy  |   Posted on Jun 12th, 2009 0

Dan Levy is a BITCH! I can’t stand his diva ways! He needs to grow up!

  83. Chris  |   Posted on Jun 13th, 2009 0

for anyone here defending kristin stewart, saying that they think she is misunderstood. BOO HOO! her job is to be a public figure and especially in the entertainment industry to answer frivolous questions. her job is frivolous, what else would you expect from an interview with her? she was screwing with jessi’s shiz (who was doing her job and treating her the same as every other celebrity she interviews) and dan was totally justified in saying what he said. the aftershow is a gossip show about celebrities. get over it! i never use this word, but kristin stewart is most definately a huge bitch

Eugh, I’m a bit tired of all of this debating. The primary cause was the awkward question that promoted the awkward response…honestly they both just looked like they didn’t know what to say and just blank (I didn’t read rudeness on their features anyway). As I teen I do agree I don’t really like these ‘After Show’ people as they seem to critise their talking topics (‘The Hills’ Kristen Stewart etc) but not in a funny, geniune and debatble way…instead they just seem to bitch about people. I think they have jumped to conclusions too fast although I’m not defending Kristen Stewart and if they had to discuss their mis-intereptation of the interview they could have done it in a nicer and politer way. It is ironic that they call her a bitch and then have an active bitch at her. Please people, you can’t fight fire with fire.

  86. Carmella  |   Posted on Jun 18th, 2009 0

I’m so sorry! But what that presenter said was 100% True! Shes not intelligent if she doesn’t know how to address someone politely or brush of the comments by nicely saying she doesn’t feeling comfortable talking about Rob. I find her incredibly rude! People may say that the only reason why Twi Fangirls dislike her is because of the fact that she gets to work along side Rob Pattinson, but the truth of the matter is, people don’t like her because she’s so INCREDIBLY RUDE! That woman smiled at her and she gave the dirtiest, i-don’t-give-a-flying **** what you’re talking about look. She’s not ‘misunderstood, she’s just a rude b***h! RPatz is probably equally as uneasy about these questions as she is, but you dont see him acting in such a ****ed up manner towards the people that are actually helping promote their friggin movie!
Oh and one more thing, Kristen Stewart can most definetly NOT act and i’m not saying this because i think she’s a b***h. If anyone has actually seen any of the movies she’s done (including Twilight) they’ll understand that she is just a cardborad cut out of an actress. There’s no emotion and passion in her work, she makes the part of Bella look easy to do, and it’s not! Bella’s like this complex character and she does not in any way portray that. The critic reviews speak for themselves and so do all the rest of her movies. I never understand why idiots like her get hired….oh wait…isn’t it funny how the director of Twilight just so happens to be really close friends with Kristen Stewarts boyfriend? (Not a lie, this was stated by Rob Pattinson himself) Coincidence? I think not.

    LOL! <3 dan….

  88. anonymous  |   Posted on Jul 13th, 2009 0

Wow I just came across this and I must admit I love the people on the aftershow I think they are funny and actually very nice/cool people. Dan was just saying what he thought of the whole situation you know the way many kstew fans praise kiristin for saying what’s on her mind and not caring. Though I find this very amusing since the girl doesn’t say anything lol. The questions were harmless and the fact that she cannot come up with something quick and witty to say is quite surprising for a girl who has been called sharp by her fans. Everybody gets ask about kissing scenes for crying out loud its standard questioning lol. I just recently watch an interview were ryan reynolds was asked about kissing and he made it into a joke and was charming while doing it. The girl always has a piss of face like she has been wronged she seriously needs to get over herself! She acts like people need to entertain her while she does nothing to ever contribute to the interview trust me I love twilight read the books and saw her interviews she is like this in every single interview so don’t tell me this is an off day because its not. And Dan is right she is replaceable in twilight. So no I don’t feel bad for kiristin she needs to smile once in awhile and stop acting like the world owes her some sort of favor. Also don’t give me the inexperience crap the girl has been acting for awhile now and longer than Robert pattinson yet he always comes off as likable in interviews. Considering you can tell he is nervous about the whole fame idea he still always has something interesting to say in interviews.

  89. Kelsey  |   Posted on Jul 25th, 2009 0

god hate those poeple that do the hills after show they are so annoying and really need to jus stop talking quit interviewing people and go do something else bcuz im sick of hearing FUCK kristen is hella tight haha

OMG who the hell are these wanna be’s?? i think KS is doing her job shes there with these idiots giving an interview regarding or promoting ADVENTURE LAND and they are asking questions about TWILIGHT ummm something wrong there! ugh i wish i hadn’t seen this cause now i want to tell these people face to face how stupid they look on tv talking stupid crap, i hope they looked back on this and cried at how dumb they look n sound….LOVE KRISTEN STEWART, girl keep on handling your business the way YOU want!!

man there just finding anything to make her look bad i love kristen peaple are just jeoulous of her fuck that faggot thAT CALLED HER A BITCH HES a bitch

  93. well i dnt know where to start apart from the fact that i am utterly discusted at these two interviewers!! shame on them two! they are just jelous, as far as i knew kristen and jesse were there to be interviewed about thier film adventureland (which iv seen and it was really good) they wernt there to talk about kissing and robert pattinson so i dnt blame kristen for keeping quiet and no one rolled thier eyes!! the red head was asking stupid pointless questions what did she expect?? i really like kristen iv seen all of her films and liked her way before twilight came out, she is a really good actress and for her age i think she has her head screwed on, shes polite and knows how to relate to her fans!! at the end of the day when this interview went out she was like 18/19 maybe thats really very young, she deals with the stardom thats been hurled in her direction very well, shes different and true to herself. She doesnt feel the need to be something she isnt, she doesnt act all fake unlike most of hollywood and these disney stars. What do ppl want from her blood?? leave the girl alone. ever heard the saying ‘if you ask a stupid question youl get a stupid answer’?? like jesse’s answer about small children and webbed feet lmao, even jesse;s face wasnt happy! sorry for ranting here but i cnt stand these two hypercritical interviewers how dare he call kristen a bitch hes the biggest bitch EVER!!!
