The Ad Council is running an unusual new series of PSAs urging teens not to drive recklessly. In each commercial, a comedian (so far Rob Riggle, Fred Willard and Rachel Harris) joins a car full of kids and is introduced (hilariously) by one of the kids as “my cousin from Michigan. He’s a teenager.” Then things get surreal. The ads in order of funniness, and some sad YouTube-comment evidence that teens still don’t get it, after the jump.
“Teenager” Rob Riggle tells his horse stories:
Fred Willard promises to haunt his new friends in form-fitting clothing:
Rob Riggle makes a viral video:
Rachel Harris, with a nice side-pony, talks about donating her eyes:
My first thought was that these ads were inspired and particularly effective and attention-getting, but if this YouTube comment is representative, um, nevermind:

Oops, that’s the joke! The next Ad Council PSA campaign should be about taking driver’s licenses away from Youtube commenters. (Thanks for the tip, Kevin!)

This is the only story here tagged with Fred Willard. Why is this and how can we change it?
NO ADULTS ALLOWED

I understand it, but it’s definitely not the ideal campaign for teens. Tey need to be more dramatic. More attention getting.
Chris,
“When I was your age”, we thought the dramatic ones were funny and sad because they were out of touch. But by starting at “out of touch”, the PSA makers ended up with funny. It’s about as mind-blowing as putting a man on the moon, but by God it worked.
P.S. Can you rally all teens to FINALLY get behind Rob Riggle, for God’s sakes?
I agree. Kids need a blend of humor and shock value like this old “Don’t do Meth!” ad.

HILARIOUS!
Kids these days. They just don’t understand humor. And they play their music too loud and wear their pants too baggy. And they need to get off my lawn.
It’d actually make me be a safer driver if they suddenly showed a horrific car crash halfway through the video. Not that I don’t like Rob, Fred and Rachel, but jump-cuts from jokes to death would be pure Nightmare Fuel.
government got something right.
I need more Rob Riggle in my life.
“The speed of light – it’s a limit we can live with.” Stop and think. Driving a vehicle on public roads is dangerous. You don’t know what kind of nuts are out there. The more time you spend driving to get where you’re going the more time you’re exposing yourself to danger. The obvious answer is to drive faster and get where you’re going in less time. Less time on the road = less time exposed to danger, just common sense. Don’t be an L.L.B. (Left Lane Bandit). Remember: “Slower Traffic Keep Right!” Remember, Pope John XXXIII said “PACEM IN TERRIS.” This can be roughly translated from the Latin as “Pass them with all four on the ground.” Mitsubishi Evo X – Flying low, not going slow.
