Even though it’s actually sort of frowned-upon in this day and age to let your cat have kittens or your dog have puppies, the world must have at least one live feed of a litter of infant domesticated mammals at any given time. So this is the live kitten cam that can exist:

Just one complaint: remember how the live puppy feed had sound, so you could leave the tab open on your browser while you did other things like work, and then when the puppies woke up from a nap you would hear it and you could go back over and check out what they were doing? This kitten feed should have that too. (Also: don’t even pretend you don’t know what I’m talking about, 70% of people reading this.) (Via Buzzfeed.)

The video site says these are shelter kittens waiting for adoption, so we can all appreciate them without guilt.

  6. Wow, at 1:20 am on a Tues morning them itty-bitty-kitties is boring as hell.

Somehow, though, my dog DID manage to get jealous, climb of the bed and come tell me it was time for a walk, and no, I may NOT finish my beer first. (why did I ever get a dog bigger and stronger than me? Anyone want to swap a German Sheppard for a Pomeranian, or maybe two goldfish?)

They do look awfully cramped in there. It makes for good viewing, but I worry about the kitties having enough space. Their collars look awfully tight, too. Also, maybe you could move all the food stuff to one area of the cage rather than spread it out so that they’re playing right beside another kitty trying to eat or drink.

I’m rather surprised at everyone bashing the shelter folks. Those kittens are clearly healthy, clean, and well-fed.

Their collars are tight because kitten necks are unbelievably small, and loose collars are more dangerous than properly-fitted collars since tiny paws and lower jaws can get hooked in them.

The light thing isn’t going to bother kittens; I work an odd schedule, so I’m up all night with lights on, and there’s light coming in through the windows during the day. My foster kittens have never had a problem sleeping and doing kitten stuff.

Space is at a premium in every shelter I’ve ever seen, and this is no doubt why there are lots of kittens in one small pen; the other option is probably not “give them more room,” it’s “don’t save as many kittens from agonizing, untimely death.” There probably ISN’T much more room. I’d like to see them with more room, too. I’d rather see people spay and neuter the frakking animals.

I’m not seeing anything bad going on here. If they were kept like that their whole lives, that would be unconscionable, but this is a shelter. Not a permanent home. Shelters can’t have the little mites underfoot all the time.

I was watching the kittens last night late and I noticed one of the beige kitties had her right eye I think all swollen. She is the smallest one it looks like. They were all going crazy last night playing and fighting and I think her little eye must gotten scratched by the other kitties. I hope they notice it and take care of her. She looked so helpless last night.

where did the rest of the babies go? what did i miss?

  21. prissy  |   Posted on Feb 4th, 2009 0

I’ve noticed that in the past several hours no one has checked up on those beautiful kittens, there is no food in their bowl and very little water.

  22. Kat  |   Posted on Feb 4th, 2009 0

Have any been adopted yet? Looks like we are 2 shy.

  23. fascat  |   Posted on Feb 4th, 2009 0

Thank you so much for taking the babies out and playing with them and talking to us. I really loved it. The kitties are so great, i would take all of them if i could. But sadly, 9 i have is enough.

Will there be more kittens soon? The puppies are nice, but not as cute as kittens…
