Oh man. Another great week in Videogum Commenter History. Good work, goblins. Starting your own party games? Making lists? Who knew! And then there were the actual comments: TBS Very Funny. So how appropriate that we celebrate everyone’s hard work on today, the most important day on the Monster Calendar. Halloween is basically Yom Kippur for you creeps. Except instead of fasting and atoning for your sins, you eat all the candy and dress up like Steve Zisou. Close enough!

After the jump, the five Highest Rated comments, as selected by you, the Lowest Rated comment, and the Editor’s Choice. SPOOKY, SCARY!

I think it’s for the added “vampire effect” when you unexpectedly start your period.

Sorry.

[Ed. note: what is there to say? You did it! It's especially nice on weeks where all the comments are just straight up jokes and not, you know, animated-GIFs of a bear walking through a liquor store. I'm not saying the animated GIFs aren't also great, they are also great, but you know what I mean. That bear shouldn't be drinking alcohol anyway! It's not for bears!]

Because Owen Wilson didn’t successfully kill himself.

Well, it only took 25 years, but someone finally choreographed the perfect dance to Ray Parker Jr.’s masterpiece.

[Ed. note: on the one hand, haha. On the other hand, it's true. You can't rush perfection. Sometimes you don't even realize how all the pieces fit together until you stand back and the puzzle is complete, revealing a picture of a man in a tiny pumpkin head, wearing a black unitard, doing the very best pumpkin head Halloween dance of all time in the world. And it is beautiful.]

  1. No gripes from me.
These fine folks deserve all the upvotes they got.
    What a fun week!

  2. Apparently the comments were too good for the website to handle this week

  3. This is going to be the best Halloween since the time I hung out with paranormal investigator, TV’s Patrick Burns.

  4. Sorry, one more Twitter-Videogum post before the weekend!
Latest list of who is who on Twitter –updated and revised about an hour ago– is here: http://www.twitlonger.com/show/q0hh

To follow the list: http://twitter.com/werttrew/videogum (list may not be visible yet to all Twitters)

The deluge of requests to be added has slowed to a trickle, so I?m thinking maybe we?ve not got most of everyone who wants to be on the list? Still, @werttrew on Twitter if you want to be added or see something that needs to be changed.

    Happy Trick or Treating, monsters.

  5. Not gonna lie, this week’s lowest score made me chuckle a bit.

    • You know, I’m not entirely sure that the commenter was wishing that Owen Wilson were dead. If he had died, Darjeeling would have been the stuff of legend – the final glimpse of the talented sad clown. His character had attempted suicide, and millions of the celebrity-obsessed would have shown up to indulge their morbid curiosity. I’m sure Wilson would have been given a posthumous Oscar.

Can we honestly say The Dark Knight would have made as much money if Heath Ledger were alive? It’s kinda disturbing to think about, but it’s also really interesting.

      • I would say that The Dark Knight would have made nearly as much money, the sucess of Batman Begins and the skill of Chris Nolan determined that. What about The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus though? The media campaign for that film wants us to believe its a one-man show from Ledger in a bid to attract audiences, but I somehow doubt that’ll be the case.

        • To be fair though, Heath was alive when he made that movie, and the previews and leaks all pointed to a tour de force performance. And he delivered. Too bad he didn’t survive to see the fruits but man, they were sweet, makes me sad about the lack of a reappearance from such an awesome rendition of a classic character.

  6. ghostrobot’s deathwish killed videogum.

  7. i’m just happy everyone’s on twitter! later everyone! happy halloween!

  8. Ok, I’m gonna admit that I don’t get #2. I’m sure it’s funny, I don’t doubt it.. but I don’t get why it’s funny.. I’ve read it a million times, even with funny voices in my head…
It’s probably something my brain just isn’t able to digest…
But please explain if it is explainable..

  9. Great BNPG guys! Also, nice philosophizing about Jeff Dunham and vampire sex toys (which happen to be synonyms).

I know from twitterizing this week that there are also some Videogum Monsters living in Tumblr caves. Gabe tumbls, the late Lindsey tumblrs, I saw some other monsters hiding under tumblrocks this week. Anyone want to make a tumblist? I don’t. I’m laaaaaaaaaazy.

  10. Blacula screening tonight!

    Baby Godsauce signing off:

    • I can’t get over how cute you were. And also… a girl? I would wear that outfit. I’m not even kidding.I can’t get over how cute you were. And also… a girl? I would wear that outfit. I’m not even kidding.

  11. Im totally prepared to be downvoted but how do i post a gif?? ive been trying and failing for the past few weeks

  12. Gabe, in the future, this week will be remembered for only one thing: A relatively unknown community-organizer from the blogosphere (in the future everyone will live in the blogosphere because greenhouse gases) successfully mobilized an army of monsters to catapult the inimitable Topher Grace into the role of a lifetime. That community organizer would go on to be the President of Entertainment for Life.

    • 62%? Really? I guess we monsters may not have much of a life, but no one will ever be able to deny that we do important things just the same.

  13. Great comments everyone. Really classic and funny, like the time I met Judy Greer at a wedding. She was the bridesmaid, of course.

  14. “Woof wroof woof!”*

    *We are ready for halloween!

  15. Pet pictures! This is my cat – kinda evil and Halloweenish, I think!

  21. Dearest Monsters, thank you so much for this honor. I am COLing upon receiving the news of my inclusion. I sincerely feel that Videogum commenters are a supportive, welcoming crowd. Lots Of Lovegum!

  22. In honor of the holiday and master thespian Gary Busey, I will leave you guys with this:

Sweet dreams, everybody. Gary Busey is definitely not outside your window, watching you as you sleep.

  23. I dunno if I can follow too closely any videogum twitter since my twitter will give up my (true?) identity (my twitter’s my name) but much love to all of my monstars! Happy halloween kiddo’s. If you’re looking for some #followfriday how’s about @phila_lawyer, @bobbybigwheel, @adambhb, @rayburgesa. In any event I’m following you @werttrew.

On an aside, you guys, everyone, be safe tomorrow. Whether you’re in NYC and going to that ridiculous w/village craziness or you’re in LA and doing whatever it is we do here (I dunno yet!! just moved!) or anywhere in between, think first and formost – tomorrow’s about the kids, so don’t be an ass and be safe for them and for me and for you.

  24. Here is my super lazy costume. I’m a cat, DUH

  25. Best Halloween Ever. Thanks guys.

  26. I don’t have any adorable Halloween pics of my dog (even though it is her birthday). Here is an adorable picture of my Monster-in-Training. If this breaks some unwritten rule of VGum commenting, remember, Godsauce started it.

    He’s a scary dinosaur. Rooooooaaaaar.

  27. K, monsters (boo! scary!) I have a pink bandanna and maybe a flamboyant hat. Someone reverse engineer a costume idea out of this plz!

  28. I’m a little embarrassed to admit I’m dressed as Steve Zissou right now. You know me too well, Gabe.
