[In this new feature, we will periodically check in to see what is up with Topher Grace.]

Life’s not getting any easier, I will tell you that. The other day all of the cash and credit cards were stolen from my wallet. Also my debit/check card. Now, obviously, there are people dying in this world. I know that! Of course I know that. There are worse problems than having the cash and credit cards and also debit/check card stolen from your wallet. But it still feels terrible, you know? Pain is subjective and relative. It was a sharp and effective reminder that the world is not a particularly friendly place. It is cold and hard and indifferent, even to people on the privileged and non-starving-to-death side of things. But you power through, you know? Bad things happen all the time. You do your best to keep your spirits up and to learn from your experiences. Perspective is maintained and frustrations are absorbed and you move forward. Because good things happen, too! And there is still hope to be had. You have to work at it sometimes, but it’s worth it!

What is getting easier, though, is finding out what Topher Grace is up to in our new feature Hey, What’s Up With Topher Grace?, your one-stop shop for everything Topher Grace.

So what’s up with him?

With production wrapped on the upcoming romantic comedy Valentine’s Day, it was time for what people in the entertainment industry call a “wrap party.” As you already know, Topher Grace is in the cast of Valentine’s Day, so he attended the wrap party. It just makes sense. FOX News reports:

Jessica Biel and Jessica Alba chatting at the Valentines Day wrap party at Hollywood’s Geisha House on Tuesday night while former That 70′s Show star Topher Grace partied the night away.

That sounds about right! If nothing else, we learn this week that Topher Grace recognizes that parties are for partying!

Meanwhile, WWD caught up with Topher Grace at the Art of Elysium celebratory dinner at Sunset Tower hosted by Gilt Group honoring the committee for next year’s Heaven Gala (whatever ALL OF THAT means), who had some pretty honest things to say about his relationship to charity:

“I didn’t know much about charity, which isn’t really a hip thing to say,” deadpanned Topher Grace. “And, I’m really self-centered. But meeting kids who benefit from this organization changed that.”

You are right about that, Topher Grace! It is not very hip to be a millionaire (probably?) who doesn’t know much about charity. Since all you really need to know is whose name to put on the check, right? But fair enough. You met the kids and now you know all about charity (now you know whose name to write on the check: “the kids who benefit”).

ALSO: in tangential Topher Newz, screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have turned in a new draft of their script for a feature based on Spider-Man villain Venom that Sony Pictures is developing. Reports G4TV

“We’ve written two drafts of Venom, and the studio has it, and they’re pushing forward in whatever ways they push forward.”

When asked when the film would go into production, Wernick responds:

“We’re not sure, [but] we’ve turned in our two drafts.”

Topher Grace, of course, played Venom in Spider-Man 3. Does this mean that he will be the marquee star of a major superhero blockbuster? It is too early to tell! But if he is, you know where to find that information (RIGHT HERE!).

And, of course, That ’70s Show remains popular in syndication

And there you go. That is what is up with Topher Grace. See you next time!

Isn’t the question: what ISN’T up with Topher Grace?

I think this feature is just Gabe’s experiment to see if videogummers will read anything — kind of like how KFC is more than likely an experiment to see if people will eat whatever they give them.

  2. sorry about your wallet. that is a hassle to say the least.

As for Topher (is his given name Christopher?) nothing to be sorry about there (except for not knowing anything about charitable giving of course…i mean, i make like 30K a year and even i give) noblesse oblige at least.

  3. “[T]hey’re pushing forward in whatever ways they push forward.” G4TV mistakenly attributes this quote to Paul Wernick, when it is in fact what she said.

  4. Gabe, do you think you can use your sources to find out if Topher Grace will be making another cameo in the Inevitable Ocean’s 13? It keeps me up at night not knowing.

  5. this is hilarious. but i think we all need more You Can Make It Up

or at least a separate You Can Make It Up spinoff Tumblr and subsequent announcement of a book deal replete with NEVER-BEFORE-SEEN You Can Make It Ups

  6. This is a photo of Topher Grace picking up some extra work to pay off his Charity.

  7. he’s STILL a douchebag!

  8. Crap. I feel retarded, guys. I meant to type 14… All I wanted was a safe place to test out my first comment… maybe I should go back to lurking. Idiot!

  9. THANK GOD. I woke up this morning in a panic and cold sweat, thinking, I can’t believe I have to wait until THURSDAY to find out what Topher Grace is up to! My God, I can’t do it! I just can’t wait! I’ve been in a bad mood all day: quiet, fidgety, and completely out of it as I daydream that every man I am seeing in class or on the bus is Topher Grace. I smiled dreamily into the eyes each of them, furrowing my brow slightly as I wondered, “What are you up to, Topher Grace? What is up with you since last Thursday?” But of course, none of these men knew what I was doing, and no one sat next to me on the Metro home. But as soon as I got into the door I came here, hoping against hope that somehow, maybe, maybe, I would get to see what Topher Grace is up to, and my prayers were answered.

They were answered!! Thank you, Gabriel. Thank you, thank you. Not only did I get to catch up with what Topher Grace is doing a whole day early, but I’m guessing tomorrow is a return to You Can Make It Up. And I am sending even moreprayers that it is about Topher Grace. Please smile on me again, Videogum Gods! Bring more Topher into my life!!!

    • Somewhere out there in the world Topher Grace just shivered and isn’t sure why. Oh, and I second your call for You Can Make It Up.

  10. Does anyone remember Topher Grace showing up on the Daily Show to promote Traffic but choosing to spend his entire interview time talking about Wild Wild West, which he caught on cable the night before?

  11. “Pain is subjective and relative.”

So does this mean movies about white people with problems are OK now?

  12. I like how this was a what’s up with Gabe and Topher this week. Let’s keep it up! Maybe even Gabe and Topher hanging out!

  13. Wanna know what’s up with me? No more of that ice cream. Reading this feature with out ice cream makes it less delicious. Just in case you were all wondering.

“Eric Bana would make a good Venom/Eddie Brockl.”- Topher’s mom.

  20. Did you ever find your wallet?

  21. Just wondering if anything came of that Venom movie. This is the only place I know to go for my Topher Grace news. Thanks.

  22. Chuck Lorre should replace Jon Cryer on Two and a Half Men with Topher just for the hell of it. I mean, why not?

  23. Hey can anyone help me? I’m trying to figure out the name of the guy who starred in that 70′s show. Not the one who married Demi Moore but the red head.

  24. Valentine’s Day is sure to win an Oscar. *FINGERS CROSSED*
