This is what happens when you leave the internet for two measly days: the internet debuts a heretofore un-famous cutest animal video. Presenting (if you haven’t already seen it), the Pygmy Jerboa, the world’s smallest rodent who looks like old Jasper Beardly from The Simpsons on meth. Pygmy Slow Loris? What Pygmy Slow Loris? This thing is one tickling away from Cutest Animal status.

I want that to come to me. (Via Buzzfeed.)

  1. I’m going to have nightmares about that thing.

  2. Cute, but not Pygmy Slow Loris cute.

  3. is this “animal” actually CGI?

  4. I don’t want to sound like a hater (I do want to sound like a hater) but I think that thing is gross and weird.

  5. Damn, I wish I had never seen that :( Not cute at all. Scary.

  6. aw lindsay we missed you

    DO NOT WANT

  8. Cute in a David Cronenberg kind of way.

  9. lindsay – you’ve seen NOTHING until you’ve seen the sugar glider in action – even its name is scrumtrulescent.

  10. See, where one person sees cute, another person sees one of the more horrifying thing to ever live. You say tomato, I say incredibly disturbing tomato.

  11. My wife works with lab animals and told me this animal has a genetic disorder and has a ton of health-related issues. Plus it’s very dehydrated and it’s hands like slightly disfigured. Very cute.

  12. personally I wish it didn’t have arms, per my assumption after the picture.

  13. Yuck, try again Lindsay.

  14. oh my gosh! It hops like a rabbit! IT HOPS JUST LIKE A RABBIT!
    hee hee

  15. Looks like something out of Jabberwocky. Borogove? Slithy tove?

Well I think it’s cute. But it looks like something my baby cousins would’ve made in art class. It’s eyes look too big for it’s head!

    Tee hee! Baby shouldn’t be!

  19. Anything classified as a rodent is automatically not cute in my eyes. This is no exception.

  20. My first thought was of those abominations the bully kid from Toy Story puts together.

But I love a good Jasper reference.

  21. “We’ve bred it down to just eyes and ears.”

  22. I was so glad to find out that that WASN’T a beakless bird, which is what it totally looked like in the little picture thing.

  23. When I first saw this video I refused to believe this was a real animal. Get out of here, Pygmy.

How are we not all behind the newfound existence/animation of an early-era finger-sized Muppet? That jerboa knows that haters be buggin’.

  25. Put a cane in it’s hand and you’ve got a baby Splinter:

  26. Silly Pygmy Jerboa, falling off that scale.

  27. AAAAH Kill it kill it killitkillitkillit.

I like my cute animals delightfully plump; not weird and skinny with gigantic heads.

  28. My dog is definitely like ten bajillion million trillion times cuter than that thing
and also i wouldn’t be able to squash her with a misplaced foot or elbow

  29. IT’S A PYGMY PUFF!!! HARRY POTTER IS REAAAAALLLL!

  30. It’s a weepul come to life!

  31. Augh! It looks just like Kingdok from the comic Bone come to life:

And Kingdok creeps me the fuck out.

First, the piosn in the slow loris’ elbows, and now the pigmy jerboa genetic disorders: Being extremely cute has a horrible, horrible price.

  33. Whoa, I just made one of these in Spore last night and now it’s a real thing?
Someone help me figure out how to make my powers work for me.

That thing looks like a cross between a chick and a hamster. My mind is reeling.

  35. That is an alien. We have confirmed life exists beyond Earth. Creepy creepy creepy.

  36. Does it make a sound? Can I pet it?
