Anna Wintour, the editor of Vogue Magazine and the inspiration for the monster Meryl Streep played in The Devil Wears Prada, gave a rare interview to 60 Minutes that will air on Sunday. This morning CBS This Morning showed a preview in which Morley Safer, who got the first on-camera interview with Anna in years because he helped her get into the media when she was young (thanks Morley Safer), asks Anna about the time she told Oprah to lose weight if she wanted to be on the cover of Vogue. No wonder she never gives interviews! “Better to remain silent and be thought a c-word, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.” – Abraham Lincoln
I like Julie Chen’s “I’ve met her and she’s actually not a disgusting monster in real life, just in the clip we just showed you” disclaimer at the end. Technically, Anna could turn the interview around on Sunday and show herself to be human on some level, but probably not.

Anna Wintour is so old she pioneered the idea of Oprah dieting?
*zing*
….and now we have Daria, Trent, and Jodie on Videogum….
hello ladies…
I think it’s safe to say Videogum attracts a certain type of readership…………
AND I LOVE ALL YOU CRAZY INTERNET PPL!
I am obsessed with all of you.
A little late on this post…sorry.
“I’ll leave when I’m good and ready.” -Anna Wintour
her bob makes me want to puke
but whatever. wintour feels the need to only let people with issues similar to her own on the cover of her (now basically irrelevant) magazine. SHE WALKS HOME FROM WORK NOW.
Anna Wintour is a c-word and all that, but I’m also not very impressed with Oprah for going along with the suggestion to lose 20 (!) lbs for a magazine cover. Did she not have enough money, fame or self-esteem to say “fuck off”?
Of course she’s a cunt, she’s editor of American Vogue. I’d be a cunt too if everyone in my industry thought of my life’s work as a sad joke.
I agree that Anna seems like a condescending alien monster. I don’t really understand why people get into so much trouble, though, for suggesting that people lose weight if they’re unhealthily overweight. Especially if the person is a tv celebrity and about to be on a magazine cover. If they lost weight, it might inspire their shitload of fans to try for a healthy weight, also. Anna’s tone could use some work, fo sho, but I don’t think it’s so outlandish that she suggest getting to a healthier weight before going on the cover of a magazine.
I meant to vote you up! I’m voting myself down to apologize.
Thanks, Adam. I have a feeling it’s not going to go over very well anyway, so it ain’t matter. Relax, Angelaaaa.
