Last night, this was aired in place of the closing credits of The Simpsons:

Ahh, my ears and eyes! It tastes like burning! Why would The Simpsons share something this irritating with their viewers? It’s like The Voca People but less entertaining. In the absence of any alternative theories, I’m going to blame Nancy Cartwright and Scientology.

  1. A capella Simpsons theme> Fall Out Boy Simpsons theme

  2. i think the assumption made my matt groening and friends is that if you still enjoy new simpsons episodes, there is a 90% chance that you are stoned, which would in turn create a 90% chance that your mind was blown by seeing something like this, thus getting you on your facebook’s and twitter’s and .blogspot’s and what have yous telling all of your friends about how the new simpsons episode blew your mind.

    i think have swine flu.

  3. “Why would The Simpsons share something this irritating with their viewers?”

Why would the show have aired something like the last six or seven seasons?

  4. I blame The Simpsons for not throwing in the towel 10 (12?) years ago.

  5. aren’t there more aurally-pleasant a cappella versions of this song somewhere? I can’t imagine this is the only instance a choir has performed it. yet the show producers choose this shrill ear-bash. because…they hate us?

  6. Still better than Family Guy.

  7. Ugh. Accapella is never anything but annoying and creepy.

  8. I was recently diagnosed with having a crippling fear of being caught within a 20 yard radius of an a capella group. The disorder is called being “human”.

  9. Okay, let’s pretend that the members of this group are all Americans. Why is there only one fat person? By law of averages, there should at least be three more.

  10. I don’t think I could hate this any more than I do.

    • re. zack kim: with the visual (1 person w/2 gtrs.), it is amazing; without, it just sounds too “jazz odyssey” not to be annoying.

  11. Haha, just noticed the prompt to buy the album. Yep, in these hard economic times, people will surely ask themselves, “Hey, y’know what I could use to get me away from the thoughts of losing my job/home? An a capella cover of a popular cartoon tv show. That’s it!”

    Winner, winner, fail dinner.

  12. All the miming and mugging transcends this from “annoying” to “obnoxious”.

I thought it was never going to end. It was like being stuck in a ca-HELL-a. GET IT?

  14. Here comes Treble.

  15. They forgot when Maggie (Marge) hits the horn!
And that’s the only reason I didn’t enjoy this..

  16. You know that feeling you get when you are embarrassed for someone else and you get goosebumps?

The look like the annoying drama majors in my english class who really enjoy show music 20 years from now.
    ugh

Somewhere Andy Bernard weeps at the a capella bashing.

  18. Wait, The Simpsons is still on the air? And why are these people dressed like it’s 1990?

  19. this was so weird. first it was like from 1992, and second, i think it was the funniest part of the episode. one one level i honestly think matt groening picked this just for laughs.

  20. this is the only simpsons cover I deem worthy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFqTd-CEjHM

Bobby McFerrin could do that shit himself.

He damn sure wouldn’t need seven other fucking lame-os to rock that shit.

    REAL TALK.
