It’s unlikely that The Wire and How I Met Your Mother share a lot of fans, as superfans of The Wire tend to be the type of people who say “I do not watch sitcoms,” so that makes it even more amusing that this week’s episode guest starred Robert Wisdom, basically playing his Wire character Bunny Colvin as the tough but fair laser tag manager who bans Barney for life. And it’s funny even if you don’t even know who he is:
The rest of the episode, which was based on Danny Glover’s “I’m too old for this shit (stuff)” line in the Lethal Weapon movies (no, really, it was based on that), was a classic stand-alone no-romance HIMYM episode. You can watch the whole thing here.

I love this show.
Last few episodes have been amazing.
I think you’re underestimating fans of The Wire — we’re not just snobs who only watch premium cable. I love both. Screw labels.
He was also on Law and Order: SVU last night…I fell alseep while it was on but I think he was some kind of devil-worshipping priest?
LOL @ fans of this show. That clip was horrible.

when i noticed it was Bunny it got 10x funnier. especially when it seemed he almost laughed when Stinson got “all up in his grille.” HIMYM guest casting> The Office
It was the second Wire tie-in this year. The “Sorry, bro” episode had an exchange where Lily says “She gots to get got” and Robin replies “The game is the game.”

This ep championed a comedic device that I don’t think I’ve seen much of lately: yelling/being loud. Case in point:
1. “A gentleman’s agreement.” “Huzzah!”
2. “Barney! Ah-Stin-sohn!
3. “Heeeeeeeeelllll NO!”
4. The majority of Marshall coaching.
Another quality HIMYM for the books.
This coming, of course, after HIMYM championed the “throw-away line” trick (any comment Barney quietly makes at the bar after everyone’s reacted to something) and the out-of-plot reference (the crap Family Guy does too much of).
Guess the casting directors at The Office must have let him slip through during their frantic Wire casting frenzy.
“Kenny, there is a teen wolf on the court. That can’t be legal.”
FalsE! I love them both. I’ve been watching HIMYM since episode 1 – it’s not as great, but it’s still better than most network TV fare. Fo’ real.
And y’all got me watching the Wire. I can’t wait to finish it and go back and read your recaps.
I just KNOW they’re as h-i-larious as the Gossip Girl ones!
Stringer on The Office. Bunny on HIMYM. I’d like to see McNulty on ______. And Bubs!
And Cutty. He is fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine. I’d like to see him on my…thank you, I’ll be here all week.
