Oh my god. This is amazing, and even if it’s a joke it’s still hilarious: guy tries to cover NMH’s “In The Aeroplane Over The Sea,” and from the fourth word of the song, it’s clear things aren’t going to work out…and it just gets worse from there. (You have to know the song, but even Stephen Colbert knows the song, so I think we’re good here):
This is the version of the song I’m going to sing over everyone else on my next road trip. Actually, I’m going to rip this to mp3 and play IT instead. I just bookmarked this video to come back to whenever I’m feeling sad. Licorice! It couldn’t be better. (Via the everybody cares tumblr.)

Oh god, that song is one of the worst pieces of shit to ever have violated my aural cavities. Seriously. It almost makes me wish I had never even heard the original, because listening to Matt Pond cover it is like watching someone kill something beautiful.

nmh is one of the best bands to sing along with purely for all the crazy “eeeeeee”’s. i basically sing that exact version- mangled, wrong lyrics and over-enthusiastic wails- of that song every time im in my car listening to the album, even though i’ve heard it ten million times. kudos to this brave young man.
