So we’re just going to ignore the fact that Elmo is being accused of touching a child, right? We all agree on this?
Maybe not so much ignore it as discuss it in another forum that isn’t mostly trampoline accidents — somewhere devoted rather to the shredding of the last vestiges of our collective innocence.
We already knew Elmo was anti-semitic though, so it’s not all that shocking.
Today we’re all Joe Paterno.
I’m glad Elmo wasn’t really prominent until after my Sesame Stree watching days were over, so my childhood wasn’t destroyed.
Big Bird for life.
Agreed. I will never not think of Elmo as being the poor man’s Grover.
My childhood consisted of watching Jay Leno make terrible Tickle Me Elmo jokes, so if anything this is like going home.
Those suddenly became a lot more terrible.
C is for Cookie and not for Chicken Hawk.
The BEST CASE scenario of the Elmo thing is that he didn’t molest a child, he just used his position of power to sleep with a very young intern.
Next week on Sesame Street: Ben Bernanke stops by to teach big bird how to consolidate his student loans, and why they are impervious to bankruptcy filings! (No, but this is actually great.)
When’s Scalia gonna come on and ruin everyone’s fun and when is Thomas going to come on and just stand there and not say anything?
Pssht, whatever. I do what I want.
Just remember that you are beautiful on the inside. Like, your brain and stuff.
I met her once! She came to a lunch sponsored by my school’s women of color group in ’08. (Had no inkling that she would be on the Supreme Court like the next year.) The thing I remember most is that someone asked her the classic “can we ladies have it all” question, and her answer was very frank and a little bit discouraging. I hope that muppet isn’t too attached to being a mom when she grows up.
(Also, she was really great. I guess I didn’t make that clear.)
