This post is mostly meant for President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney as they prepare for tonight’s first presidential debate, but I do think it’s possible that some of the rest of you (those who plan to participate in game shows, for instance) might also be able to take a few pieces of advice from it, so I have chosen to publish it here rather than email it directly to them. So. Here it is:
Hello, guys! How are you? Have you seen this clip from The Price Is Right, with the lady doing “Showcase Showdown”? Probably not, I guess. I have to assume that you’re both pretty busy lately! Hahaha. You are probably getting that all the time these days. “You pretty busy lately?” It’s not, like, a great joke, but it’s certainly humorous. But anyway so you’ll see in the clip I’ve attached that there was a lady on The Price Is Right and she was doing the “Showcase Showdown” and she took, like, FOREVER to figure out the amount she wanted to guess. Like, forever. You’ll see. So I just thought I’d pass it along in case you were feeling nervous about the debate tonight — I think it will teach you a good lesson about how long you should take to figure out your answers to things in order to get them perfect. Check it out:
See? Take your time. Listen to what the crowd is screaming at you and then scream it back at them. I’m sure this method will lead to success. Good luck, I love you.

this show isn’t called Gallery of Assholes?
I don’t know, Kelly. “Taking one’s time” sure sounds like a form of entitlement to me.
Just like Mitt Romney, her position is unclear, poorly articulated, and changes rapidly depending on the whims of a select group of people.
Politics!
This guy knows how hard it is to make the showcase showdown bid:
Aww, I feel bad for her. I bet the lights and all of the shouting were really stressful. I SPOKE TO THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL the other week (what’s up FELLAS) and it wasn’t very crowded, but the lights and knowing I was on public access scared the crap out of me and I got flustered and spoke too quickly. But the resolution passed so the system works.
Well I think I speak for all monsters when I say we’re very proud of you! Go Democracy! Go badideajeans!
Thanks Kate! I helped stop the coal transport through Portland… for now. It really was kind of a big deal. The resolution was going to pass anyway, but I went in and said that as a telecommuter I had a choice on places to live, picked Portland for a reason and would take my income and leave if I started developing the black lung. The pro-coal’s lobby was stressing jobs, so I spoke up for the people who came into the city with jobs but stayed here because it’s great… And will get the hell out the second it becomes a Dickens-style nightmare of soot and sadness. Hopefully it resonated more than “this will destroy my community’s organic garden” — which, while still also important, doesn’t hold a candle to the coal export lobbies.
Yay!
Great argument!
OH MY GOD, did she win? I have to know! Why did they cut off the clip there?
she lost.
by $9 iirc.
Hmm… I guess no one wants to talk about Seth McFarlane Chipmunk Dude then.
