I don’t think you can judge how much someone else has suffered until you’ve been in their shoes. Way harsh, Tai. I dated a guy in high school whose dad was transgender. His friends all “teased” him about it so much that he dropped out of school and did a shit ton of drugs and basically ruined his life. They’re all still friends and to this day they don’t think they were out of line. He was good looking, white, middle class. Jut because it’s not affecting you personally does not mean it is not affecting someone very, very deeply. I see this attitude a lot from Gabe, and not to get all Mom on you, but I find it very disappointing. |

[Ed. Note: Well, now, hold on a second. The counter-argument to "we need to stop indulging a culture of victimization" is not simply "but I know a guy who was unfairly victimized." There are lots of examples of people who have genuinely suffered at the hands of others, and that's always bad. Obviously. No one is saying different? And under absolutely no circumstances could you interpret my position on the current "bullying" trend with "therefore people who struggle with transgendered fathers should shut up because who cares." We are not talking about a case by case basis. I'm sure your friend had a particularly tough time, and I am sorry he had to go through that! Come on! But so if I do need to clarify, my point is NOT that people shouldn't seek help if they feel socially ostracized or emotionally abused. Everyone should get some comfort in this world. But they don't need the entire world to rush to their defense and hold them on their shoulders as some kind of folk hero. Cry to your mommy, and then dry your tears and hit the field again. We are in the middle of the big game and there is no crying in lifeball. I do appreciate the engaged feedback, though. Always!]

I had a late work day today so I had a little time to watch tv this morning. So while channel surfing I saw “The Garfield Show” was on. Thinking the people who write tv shows descriptions made a mistake, I tuned in, only to find out someone turned “Garfield and Friends” into a monstrous CGI animated show.
Garfield hates Mondays and I hate CGI Garfield.
Frankly, I feel bullied when you call me a troll.
And I feel trolled when you call me a bully, so I guess it evens out.

That’s not what I was saying. I was saying you can’t judge if someone was actually bullied or not, and how deeply that bullying affected them, based on the fact that they’re a reasonably attractive heterosexual white person.
What if they’re ugly?

Although you can judge someone for using their victimization as a cheap ploy to get sympathy votes on a televised reality show rather than seeking therapy or some other form of legitimate help, IMHO.
