The long wait is over, you guys. Hunger is the best sauce. (What?) From Reuters (via FilmDrunk):
In its latest animal-central project, Fox has signed director Tom Dey to develop a big-screen adaptation of “Marmaduke.” Brad Anderson created the decades-running newspaper comic, which revolves around a mischievous Great Dane who lives with the Winslow family in 1954. The project is in the early stages of development, and the studio declined comment on specifics. It hasn’t been decided whether “Marmaduke” will be a live-action film, animated or a mutt [sic].
Perfect. The tag-line on the poster will probably be “Who Let The Dog Out?” Because of how this movie is on the cutting edge of what is happening.

INT. LIVING ROOM – DAY
PHIL walks in and finds MARMADUKE sitting in his chair.
Marmaduke, get out of my chair!
EXT. HOUSE – DAY
DOTTIE watches as the dog-catcher’s truck approaches. MARMADUKE has his head hanging out of the passenger side door.
Oh, not again!
INT. THAI PRISON – DAY
ALICE MARANO sharpens a stick of bamboo against a rock. Her bare feet calloused and bleeding, and her clothes are in dirty tatters. She brushes a strand of greasy hair from her brow.
I wish I could leave this Brokedown Palace.
MARMADUKE nudges her with his nose.
Not now, Marmaduke.
CUT TO:
EXT. LEMONADE STAND – DAY
BILLY sits with his head in his hands. MARMADUKE sits next to him with his head in his paws.
How was Thailand?
THE END.

This reminds me of two rejected Marmaduke strips (one, two) I offered the franchise awhile back. Hopefully they reconsider them for the movie.

No, I was thinking more of a live-action/CG affair, where Heathcliff befriends a kid (Freddie Highmore?) and helps him in life, while Heathcliff continues his crazy hijinks.
You know, like every other kids movie.
