Zuzanna Szadkowski, who plays Dorota on Gossip Girl, gave an interview to MTV. Did you know that just like Dorota, Zuzanna is also Polish? Can you believe it? Can you believe that a woman named Zuzanna Szadkowski is Polish?! Boom goes the mindamite. It’s true.
“I was born in Poland, so I am able to identify with her in that way. Certainly the accent is modeled after people in my own family, so hopefully I am doing it justice,” she said. “My family loves it and I know that in Poland ‘Gossip Girl’ has a lot of fans. We have Poland represented on the Upper East Side!”
Lots of Gossip Girl fans in Poland? Global village, you guys.
In any case, it’s nice to see Zuzanna getting the attention she deserves. She is so likable on a show designed to make you hate everyone. Acting! But, there’s one thing about the interview that was more than a little bit troublesome:
Really? She had to dress up in her maid’s uniform to give an on-line interview to MTV? Is “abject humiliation at all times” a line item in her contract?
Zuzanna: Hey, um, I don’t want to be a pain, but do you think for this interview I could wear human clothes. I think it would be interesting for fans of the show to see me as a real human being, rather than as a dehumanized whipping post indentured to the whims of a vile adolescent.
Producer: Shut up. Here, hold this feather duster.
At least they let her drop the accent. “You can stop doing the accent for 30 minutes every four hours.” “Thank you.” “Don’t thank us, thank New York State Law.”

The behind the scenes with Penn Badgley are worse. His GQ intereview was the most self important thing I have ever read.
Ed Westwick is drunk in 100% of his interviews, so they are always awesome.

Being an Ex-Pat in Czech Republic I can say they are way savvy about downloading American TV here in E. Europa. The TV here is prohibitively expensive and mostly sucks. The big show here is Ugly Katka the CZ Ugly Betty.
Of course they mostly seem to like Prison Break, Battlestar Galactica and LOST. But if you put a Polski in your show (even as a slave peon) they will go nuts for it.
It’s impressive how good houswives are at getting pirate TV and movies and tracking down subtitles. I’m still catching up to them.
oh guys, poland is like the capital of watching us tv shows. i don’t know a single person who didn’t saw at least 5 episodes of house md, and that include my grandparents. i guess we like your work, cause there’s no such thing as polish popculture, maybe two, three movies and one tv show from the eighties, communism to blame.
btw, we all dress up in maid’s uniforms, it’s not a big thing.
Hahaha, the magic jazz hands thing she does at the end is creepy/sexy in this professional by-the-way style?

Zuzanna is a beautiful girl! I have met her in person and she is great! We love Dorota!
