She’s totally right. Stephen King is a hack, whereas Stephanie Meyer is the next Shakespeare. Far more people have read Meyer’s books than King’s.

To be fair, let’s not put Stephen King up on a literary pedestal and make him out to be a brilliant literary genius. His work is decent and entertaining and probably better-written than Twilight (going off of what other people I trust have told me about it since I will never read it myself). But isn’t this kind of a Billy Mays vs. Vince Offer celebrity feud of the literary world? In the end neither of them are going to be remembered a hundred years from now for their wonderful literary contributions to the world.

So, basically, Stephanie Meyer is a legendary writer because she has sold millions of books, which also makes her better than Stephen King, and he is just SO JEALOUS of her unforgettable talent.

I have a lot of friends that read these books over and over and have seen the movie over and over. But not a single one of them would say that they’re good.

Someone needs to tell Girl Whose Appearance I Won’t Comment On that if writing skill was based on copies sold, Stephen King would still be the better writer. Unless you qualify it as copies sold since Twilight was release, which just seems kind of protruding brow line.

Personally I like both King and Meyer. It’s strange how the fans are supposed to choose one of them, I just don’t understand it.
And Stephen King, as far as I know, commented Meyers writing style, not the story itself. And I agree that Meyers writing is not that very good – but the story is. The Twilight books are the kind you read just for the stories sake.
Another thing I don’t understand is how people sit around comparing their books, when they are so different they cannot be comapared to eachother.
And just because a professional writer commented another, it’s weird how people who has nothing to do with it just blows up like that girl above.
I love King, I love his writing, originality, talent for understanding todays society and his use of language. It doesn’t make me hate Meyer. I love Meyer for her stories and her humour, the simplicity and the theme – and it doesn’t make me hate King.
