If you had told anyone even a few weeks ago that the most talked-about socio-cultural issue of the week of February 12 would be the show Wife Swap, they would have told you to get out of the city. But after an episode on January 30th featured one Stephen Fowler, a British expatriate from San Francisco, verbally abusing his assigned “redneck” “wife,” saying things like “I make more money in a week than you do in a year,” and basically being the biggest douchebag ever to appear on reality TV, Americans have joined together to collectively hate him to the point where he’s had to resign from several boards and his wife has issued an apology for his behavior. Oh, and Stephenfowlersucks.com is now its own cottage industry. Nobody actually watches Wife Swap, so video highlights of Stephen’s worst moments are after the jump.
While it’s tempting to imagine Stephen Fowler losing his job over this and having to move back to England and live with his parents, this is, after all, America. So look for the Stephen Fowler Moves To A Podunk Town weekly reality show on ABC’s fall slate.

I don’t know what Stephen Fowler’s advanced degrees are in, but I’d say probably not Being a Decent Human Being.
He actually didn’t go to graduate school. I watched this (yes, home on a friday night, watching wife swap…) and most of his defense was “I scored a 99th percentile on the GRE!! I don’t need to prove how smart I am to you, a stupid person! You can’t even understand me, redneck bitch!”
He was horrible.

right? the t-shirts alone warrant a serious ass whooping. this couple brings douchebaggery to a whole new level. I award them both honorary doctorates in GO KILL YOURSELF (seriously, your children would be better off raised by wolves….they’d at least know the feeling of a loving mother’s warm touch). also (they made me so angry i need to rant) when their children are a little older and come to fully realize that their parents love is contingent on good grades and physical condition (“honey, i’m a certified life coach and i really don’t think those couple extra pounds are getting you anywhere”) their life of being terrible human beings and bad parents will come full circle.

His advanced degrees are obviously not in field related to choosing good t-shirts to wear on television. Putting helvetica on a t-shirt does not make it cool.

Wow, Stephen Fowler, congrats, you have made an ass of yourself for years to come, probably ruined the family name, turn an entire nation against you, damaged your wife’s business, alienated and insulted the poor, the uneducated, which includes most ethnic minorities and generally most of the people in the world, the United States Air Force, Marines, Army and Navy, (which saved your own nation if history is any measure), the entire mid-West, most American cities, anyone overweight, people with reading disabilities and anyone that lacks command of the English language and all of humanity by simply being included. We as American should not take the Longs are the typical family. If that was the case then our country would have collapsed a long time ago. We are the people making this a great a nation. Americans with a passion for culture, knowledge, innovations, sports. We are moving our country forward competing against Europeans, Asian countries. Not the Longs, they represent what is wrong with America. I don?t care about their eating habits, but I do care about their limited vocabulary. They have no appetite for knowledge or just to improve their modest ways of living. They cultivate HATE in their children to past it from generation after generation. Am I supposed to be ok with that?. NO. I believe in America. I believe we are better than that. We have culture, values. We are the greatest nation because we push forward the barriers of ignorance. I am not proud a nation of represented of Longs. You know we are better than that. We have culture, values, morals.

I’m a british soldier currently serving alonside US forces in Afghanistan. Steven Fowlers attitude to life disgusted me. There is a reason he moved to America which is that people like that don’t get on in Britain. Please don’t send him back.
I know this post is rather old, but I had to comment about this guy. I can’t stand WifeSwap but I watch it because my wife likes it. Anyway, I saw this Fowler episode and it made me ill. I don’t care to focus on on the behavior of the Longs, (like Andrew does so redundantly in the previous posts), since the topic is about Stephen Fowler. I don’t think the Longs pose as much of a threat to America as does this fucktard. “World citizens” such as Fowler, are apt to blame America for every real or imagined problem in the universe, and have the audacity to spew their vitriol on our own soil. He stands for everything that Americans have fought against since we became a nation of free people; including anything that would infringe upon his right to vomit his opinions.
