Oh no. I hardly even want to bring this news to you right now, on a Thursday. This is Friday news for sure, because there has to be some kind of way to soften the blow, and if this were Friday the softener could be that it was Friday. Well, here it is. I’m so sorry! DON’T SHOOT THE MESSENGER, JUST KIDDING, PLEASE DO! From The Huffington Post:

Speaking with Empire, producer Jon Landau revealed that the chances of an “Avatar” sequel hitting theaters by December of 2014 are dwindling rapidly.

“We’re not really naming dates, but I think 2014 will be a tough date for us to make,” he said. “To us, it’s about getting it right. [...] The first ‘Avatar’ was supposed to be 2008, it was 2009. Movies make release dates, release dates don’t make movies.”

Noooooooooooooooo! HOW DARE YOU BE SO PATRONIZING ABOUT BREAKING YOUR PROMISE TO US, JON LANDAU! Movies don’t make zillion-dollar-grossing sequels to movies, fans who are DEFINITELY NOT OK make zillion-dollar-grossing sequels to movies! (And I hate to be a person who points out a thing like this, but, EEK!) With that said, how are you even going to handle the one year push back in the Avatar 2 release date? Just go to bed? Medically induced coma? Die and hope that Heaven is Avatar 2? But then what if you go to Hell and in Hell you NEVER get to see Avatar 2?! Maybe you can just get a Click remote somehow, or, like, make one? I don’t know! We all have a lot to think about, for sure! Good lucks!

  4. Thanks a lot Neil Degrasse Tyson!

  5. That DEFINITELY NOT OKAY link has a comment at the end about a kid who was suicidal but was saved by xbox and weed. It’s a pretty good read.

  6. I guess my gay fan fiction will have to be devoted to this gif in the meantime:

  7. What we can all do in the meantime is enjoy the far superior Avatar: The Last Airbender cartoon, as well as its sequel series “The Legend of Cora,” which takes place 70 years later and is premiering on Cartoon Network on April 14th.

  8. Don’t worry Kelly, cause it is kinda like a Friday because tomorrow is GOOD FRIDAY!
