It’s always a delight to take something from your hip, young life, show it to an elderly person, and see what they make of it. I’m pretty sure we all had that listed under our favorite actives on our Facebook profiles at SOME point. “Jogging, watching classic movies, hanging out, and showing old people new things and watching their reaction.” -Everyone, at some point. But boy oh boy, have you ever given one of your grandparents POP ROCKS before? You’d think they maybe would have had pop rocks at this point in their lives. It’s not like Nerd Rope or any other kind of COOL, NEW candy, but as it turns out there are some grandparents out there who have never experienced it. Maybe a whole generation of lovely old people, just WAITING for their chance to have sugar fizz on their tongue. (Which sounds a little gross, but please, relax.) So maybe we should all take the opportunity tomorrow, Thanksgiving, the day that we’re all celebrating no matter who we are, where in the world we live, or what our lives are like, to find all the old people we can and force Pop Rocks in their mouths and videotape it. The results are adorable! Trust me when I say that the results are adorable. One time, my grandparents and I watched Jersey Shore together. it was the best day of my life. I explained what a booty call is.
Later that night, they explained to their friends what a booty call is.
“You just call up a friend and say ‘I’d like to have a booty call!’” — my grandpa.
So, he pretty much got it EXACTLY right.
That was the best night of my life too.
