I’m sure Gummy Award winner Zooey Deschanel is actually fine with having played a fictional crazy girl in the part-animated video for The Offspring’s 1998 video for “She’s Got Issues,” because it was probably not nearly as grating then. She was even doing that adorable (really!) wide-eyed thing back in the late ’90s:
Between this and Christina Hendricks in an Everclear video, 1998 is shaping up to have been the magic year for redheads in rock videos who would be famous ten years later. (Thanks to Darren for the tip!)

Most of the time I do a pretty good job of pretending The Offspring never existed.
Aww, Zooey is so adorable. Always.
And I like the Offspring. I can’t mount a defense for them as a band, but they were my first concert, and I can still find things to like about them.

Her album was better than anything the offspring ever released. This is like Ronald Jenkees in a Puddle of Mud video.
I’m 90% sure that Mary Lynn Rajskub (whatsherface from “24″) was in Weezer’s video for “The Good Life”, but that might be old news.

Everyone I know loves her. I think she could star in a Westborough BC Xmas video and I would find someway to defend her.

Enjoyed her in All the Real Girls (David Gordon Green + Paul Schneider + Patricia Clarkson + Danny McBride = pure awesome but I CANNOT STAND her singing voice. Nasal and whiny.
Amen brother. I’ll never understand the heaps of praise that she gets. She’s a subpar singer and not really all that great of an actress.
Oh yeah. The Offspring are one of the worst bands ever. But at least this is probably (relatively) one of their least-annoying tunes…
I really like both of those notes the singer can hit.
