Hey, so, the shows were good last night, right? That is the best way I could come up with to enter into this discussion so let’s just go with it, yay! After I watched Community I was so excited about it that I was ready to declare that it was my favorite episode of the season so far. In the sober light of morning, though, I’m not so sure. Mostly because I feel like I’m forgetting things? I’m not sure if that’s because the episode was not as memorable as I thought it would be or because my brain is basically a leaky ziplock bag. Anyway, Troy and Abed’s shadow puppet show for Annie was adorable. “Kiss From a Rose” is a great song and I appreciate it being used anywhere, in any form. It was certainly a very heart-warming episode, the kind of thing that I could easily see being too sweet for some viewers (and probably something that a lot of those viewers don’t like about Community overall). But. I like it! And I liked it. +It was funny. Great. Parks and Recreation was also very good, I thought. Thank GOD they let Ben and Leslie interact with each other without any LOOSE WOMEN around. Boooooo, other women! Leave Ben alooooooneeeee! It was nice that they allowed April to act more like a human and less like April in this episode. Did the Grand Canyon change her for good?! Probably not! But! It was nice in this episode! I feel like Ben and Leslie, to get back to talking about them again because COME ON, are the new “Jim and Pam” and instead of a stupid husband keeping them apart it’s a stupid campaign. RIGHT? This is why I’m a Thursday Night TV Journalist — I connect the dots that no one else in the whole world could EVER connect. Speaking of connecting the dots, THE OFFICE! The Office was fine. I enjoyed it, especially the beginning about Andy’s mom dying, and the fact that Ryan had some funny lines. But, to be honest, I don’t care if Jim thinks a lady is objectively attractive and I EVEN MORE don’t care if he has high blood pressure. “Marriage!” We already have our new Jim and Pam, Jim and Pam! And they’re called Ben and Leslie! AND WE LOVE THEM! Also I hope you’re doing all right, Jim. You should take care of yourself. Sooo, what did you guys think of the shows?! Did you think they were good too????

  1. So, this was a great night. Community is back to its old self, and Always Sunny’s episode was a classic.

Community: A-. Yes! Good episode and a return to form. This was an episode that reaffirmed our affection for the characters. The dean and Jeff Winger singing “Kiss from a Rose” together is the best karaoke since Gale’s video in Breaking Bad. Also, bonus The Lakehouse burns! #anniesmove

Parks and Recreation: B. Model UNs are dorky. Trade everything for lions. The moon is owned by South Africa. I liked this episode okay. I kinda wish Tom Haverford didn’t take his old job back—he needs a larger tapestry to work his insanity on that the office.

Sidenote: I don’t like the character of Jerry. He’s the Kevin of the Parks and Rec. Please do less with him, not more, P&R aka Tom’s Place!

The Office: B-. This show is always a B-. It’s too tired to get anything higher, yet the writing is too sharp to deserve any less. Plus Andy slapping his chest and knees in time to the music because he has no other instrument was priceless.

PS Do you guys remember that great 90s sitcom Newsradio? The billionaire boss, Jimmy James, was always hanging out at the newsradio station. It was kinda ridiculous but they would acknowledge that and often make light of it. But why is Robert California ALWAYS at Dunder-Mifflin? Why is there CEO always there?? I’m not asking you to make sense, The Office, but I am asking you to at least address it.

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia: A. The best Thursday night TV episode of any show this season. I was gasping for breath from the start of the show to the finish. The Indiana Jones props! The Jay Leno burns! The Arizona leather shops! The chips! The Southerners! Pointed feet! The Swedish plumber! The vase?! Are you kidding me, the vase?! Absolutely stellar.

    • Sorry Wert, but I object to your objection of Jerry. Their treatment of him is the best. I live by one rule, and that is ABJ. Always Be Jerry(ing.) Granted, it’s not a well-constructed rule, but it’s got me this far.

    • I loved that Andy wanted to trade the Finnish military for lions. So perfect. I mean, we already have one in our coat of arms.

    • “We should not be committing crimes based on beliefs that are two hours old!”

That whole episode was amazing. It’s so great to see Always Sunny back to it’s old self. I feel like this show more than anything on TV has the potential to keep being funny for years and years. There’s no reliance on plot points or character development. It’s just these four social rejects being ridiculous over and over again. With hilarious results. A+++

    • I’m pretty sure they mentioned that Robert California, while the CEO of the whole company, uses the Dunder Mifflin Scranton branch as his office because he still lives in the area and its the closest location for him to do his work without moving? Pretty sure they said something to that effect in the second or third episode…

    • Speaking of Newsradio and The Office, Maura Tierney is going to guest star as Robert’s wife later this year. Awesomesauce!

That just makes me wish they hired Dave Foley instead of James Spader.

  2. Who else has been playing Kiss From a Rose on a constant loop all morning? Just me?

  3. This line and the way Nick Offerman delivered it. Holy crap. I laughed my ass off all the way through the opening credits.

  4. “I’m just a Craigular Joe”

    • I know this is just a television show and it’s supposed to be funny and stuff but if I were Jim in this scenario I’m pretty sure I would have immediately punched Dwight in his head and then called a lawyer. Like immediately.

    • This was the worst. Dwight would not touch Jim’s penis no matter how much he wanted to win the bet. And Jim wouldn’t just let it happen like that. You’re getting sloppy The Office.

    • This, Andy’s scatting lyrics, and parks and rec Andy’s “If you change the letters in Peru you can spell Europe” jokes were my favorite.

  5. Whitney and Alex are (the new Jim & Pam + the new Ben & Leslie + the new Ron & Tammys + the new Troy & Abed + the new Charlie & Frank) x a billion.

  6. I like to keep reminding everyone that the League is a pretty good show. That said, I fell asleep through most of the episode. “Uh… oops.” – Rick Perry

  7. ron swanson talking about sanding his toe nails had me laughing so hard, i couldn’t do my usual whistle & foot tapping during the Parks & Rec credits. i thought it would be the funniest cold open of the night until Erin told Andy his mom died.

  8. Great night overall, probably my favorite episode of Sunny of the season, most likely because I have been in the exact same situation as the gang- I broke into a house with my friend ONLY to retrieve something that was stolen from said friend by that the person who’s house we broke into… needless to say, twenty minutes after they had left and we got in, they returned and we were stuck hiding in the basement for three hours before we could make a run for it. It was a terrifying ordeal at the time, but hilarious when I think back to it and even more hilarious when the guys from Sunny do it.

  9. Andy’s eyes when Leslie says “Food, schmood” was the most compelling reason to watch television last night.

  10. Also why has there been no love for the Ben Wyatt mic drop?

  11. Praise jebus for a Chang-free episode of Community.

  12. Shut UP Bulgaria!

  13. Did anyone see Life’s Too Short? Because you need to see Life’s Too Short.

  14. Community was pretty great. I like that they don’t over-do the dean’s attraction to Jeffrey. I was worried it would go too far when I saw where it was going, but then Kiss From A Rose happened and my god I love this show.

  15. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT:

Does anyone know who played Jesus, the marijuana-loving hitchhiker on Community? The actor was so familiar, but I cannot find out who he is, no matter how hard I use the internet. Please monsters, help me figure it out!!

  16. Best Community since dungeons and dragons ep! I’ve been singing “Jesus loves marijuana… and drinking human blood” for two days. ALL OF THE THUMBS UP!

  17. Ben and Leslie are so far, far removed from Jim and Pam as people that I’m a little bit in shock at the comparison. (Then I relaxed because it is TV!) Ben and Leslie are good, smart, dedicated, hardworking people who don’t try to stop each other from pursuing their hopes and dreamzzz. So. Kind of the opposite of Jim and Pam.
