Last night I was only able to watch two of the Thursday Night shows because I went to see a concert and David Byrne was there and he said “excuse me” to me twice and the second time he touched me on the shoulder. It’s like whatever, pretty much? I’m not trying to say anything about it, I just didn’t want to seem like I was being flakey about the shows. You know. W/e. Anyway, I thought Community was good! Dare I say the SECOND BEST episode of this season so far?! Yes. I’m really enjoying the Troy/repairman plot line. Britta was spot on for the entire episode. The only disappointing part was that I thought Pierce’s father was Martin Short for a second when I first saw him, but then it turned out that it wasn’t Martin Short. BOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! Very good other than that, though. Parks and Recreation was the worst. By that I mean: It was the best! But boy. I do not want to have to watch Ben date someone other than Leslie. That is going to be rough. Ugh, and the ending? When she told him that the romantic part of their relationship was over? Ugh. Too much. At least the April and Andy bucket list plot line made up for how terrible I was feeling — that was very sweet. And it was a lead-in to their new Parks and Recreation “Road Trip” webisodes! Yay! “No thinking, just stupid.” It was also cute when Tom’s ex-girlfriend kissed him at the end. Lots of cute stuff in this episode (also: end of the world people), but not enough to have left me with a heart that wasn’t broken. BEN! So, what about you guys? All broken hearts? Did someone get fired on The Office? Was it a character that never existed until that episode, like they did in Season Two or whenever? Tell me, I’m dying to know since I was unable to watch it because David Byrne had to say “excuse me” to me twice.

ew what a gross gabeisode
Community: B-. Sure, second best of the season, but still a far cry from the average quality of the first two seasons. It did have my favorite line of the night, however: “I don’t know why the word ‘gay’ means ‘dumb.’ These guys are all right in my book.”
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia: B+. Shush! Dumb guys with huge, delicate egos = very funny. I laughed really hard. My favorite show of the night. Catfish reference was golden, too. Ep was marred at the end, however, by Frank’s stupid “virus video,” which is such a dumb joke I nearly turned off my TV.
Parks and Recreation: B. April and Andy are the best couple on TV, no? Cute. “I want to remake that movie Kazaam where Shaq plays a genie and get it right.” There’s a remake I could get behind! And the Tom Haverford party really DID look kinda awesome.
The Office: B-. I kinda liked the doomsday device plot if for no other reason than the slackness that has marked so much of this series lately was replaced with this new urgency. It was a pleasant jolt. Still…this show, you guys. It’s getting so long in the tooth.
i want to outrun a rhinocerus.
I didn’t think the Frank video at the end really marred the episode, but it definitely wasn’t the best way to end the episode. Of course, thankfully, it doesn’t end with that, it ends with the Dennis’ creepy ‘chuckle’ which was perfect.
It ends with the Shusher and his friends showing up to the ‘cool bar without a sign because it’s been blown off’, the gang locking the doors, and then Dennis’ creepy chuckle. WHICH WAS PERFECT OMG
Yeah, Frank’s viral video c-plot wasn’t the best, but it kept him out of the way for Mac and Dee to do their Catfish stuff and Dennis and Charlie to do their foot-to-pavement manhunt while they all continuously ranted and raved about how much of an asshole the Shusher was, which was all GREAT! Would the episode have been even better if Frank had a juicier, tighter plotline? Sure. But he checked in three times the entire episode. 1. “I’ll go get the video camera!” 2. “I’ve got the video camera!” 3. “Here’s the video!” Which was fine. I can’t harp on Frank when the rest of the episode and his plotline afforded the other characters the type of freedom to do what they did.
What’s the line? “Something something scarves at Toody’s?! What an asshole!”
awww…I thought that Parks and Rec was great. that B deserves a plus or an A with a minus? I don’t know…i don’t ‘grade’ things. The April/Andy story was wonderful. “HAVE YOU EVER SEEN THAT MUCH MONEY?” “I just handed it to you.” also: “A BILLION NICKLES!” AND THEN BURT MACKLIN! aww…and the end? And Ron gouging the End of the World cult and the thing at the end where the end of the world guy just seems like a lonely old man who wants to have a gathering every so often? AND TOM! And his Kiss? awwwwwwwwwwww. I’m not saying the show made me almost cry several times but i AM saying i hate Shauna Malwae-Tweep.
My sister texted me this morning quoting Michael Scott explaining that swag is “Stuff We All Get”, and I had a moment where I was actually depressed that the show has continued on past Steve Carrell’s leaving it.
Equipmonk.
Bobbum.
But where are all the faces…of the presidents?
but her look at him was the best part. “The fuck?” she said with her eyes. 2cute
Best cumulative night of shows so far this season. ESPECIALLY WHITNEY! OMG he thought a pillow was Whitney’s chest!
Seriously though, it was all great except for The League, which I didn’t finish watching.
The actor playing that dude straight up nailed being drunk though
I could listen to John Goodman say “palm fronds” for the rest of my life.
Bones Corner:

BONES BONES BONES BONES
That made me add Bones to my Netflix queue.
I FORGOT IT WAS BACK. YES.
Oh God, Boreanaz used to be hot!
“The director was on my ass in this scene. I told him, ‘You want someone to phone it in, you get Kirk Cameron. You want someone to be a savage, you get Fred. Savage.”
“Steak me home….Tonight, we use the finest ingredients!”
Happy Endings… A+
If you love sandwiches and you love taste!
Yeah. Happy Endings is killing it in my books!
I love Troy and Abed so much. I want them to have a show where I watch them watch TV on nights when I can’t watch them interact with people after their done watching TV. Maybe on Tuesday nights, where Revenge is slotted.
And the commitment to Inspector Spacetime is fantastic. Since the Inspector Spacetime fan tumblr went nuts, I think Dan Harmon is taking some cues from it. For real. He’s been tweeting about how great it is. But every ep gets an Inspector Spacetime reference… and every time I squeal a little.
“Incredible, invisible, inbelievable things. Where an unknown, unseen, unvincible fraternity of craftsmen, graduates of this school, are guaranteed employment for the rest of their lives.”
My favorite line of the episode, right there.
The priest whispering “You’re the worst” to Britta.
The end.
You always come through concert addict!
Seriously, Community makes me laugh out loud (LOL) more than any other show. Parks & Rec. was pretty good. And the the Closing Time/Stanley bit saved the Office from being a bad episode in my opinion (IMO).
bad in Office standards. Not compared to everything else on TV. Compared to everything else: A+
Agreed. I died right there. Too too good.
we were all watching the shows, and Kelly was all:

I thought It’s Always Sunny was very Seinfeld-esque. But then again, so is almost every episode.
That show is our generation’s Seinfeld! I LOVE it!
All of the upvotes!
My faaaace! My face…is totally fine.
Was last nights Parks and Rec just made for beautiful gifs? “It’s a grand experiment and I am a party scientist. Welcome to my laboratory.”
It’s like whenever I wake up, concert_addict is just leaving my dreams, waiting to gif me with a fantastic Friday.
Ben is so happy! But, knowing that there is a sad face not long after this moment makes me sad too.
I love you TV boyfriend.
I would just like to say that it makes me happy that Inspector Spacetime was not a one-off joke.
I thought Shangela did a great job!
When I saw the lips I knew I recognized them! I wish it had been Jujubee instead.
I’m just going to leave this here….
I googled “comb bra” after this scene.
I am an idiot.
Off topic but on topic?: If David Byrne were standing right next to me, I would whimper and try to keep it as inaudible as possible. If he TOUCHED ME? I would DIE. And then I would ask him which laws he considers his favorites, because that’s been bugging me for a while.
Kelly knows how to play it cool. When I met Spike Jonze I just kept asking him questions assuming he was Sharlto Copley. Thanks vodka!
One I was walking out of the J.Crew in Soho (fancy, I know) and there are these little nubs on the stairs in that part of the city and I stumbled on those nubs and almost fell face forward onto David Bowie and Iman, but instead I moved like a goon and they laughed at me for almost tripping.
The point of the story is that I made David Bowie and Iman laugh. I get it, Kelly. I totally do.
So, Kelly, how was the St. Vincent show, which is where I’m assuming you were at since she played Webster Hall last night and has collaborated with David Byrne? My crush on Alison Brie is exceeded only by my crush on Annie Clark.

I can answer that! It was SOGOOD.YESSSS
Annie crowdsurfed while playing guitar on the final encore song (“Your Lips Are Red”), and I almost had a seizure from the ridiculous light show numerous times. And the potential knowledge that I was also in the same space as David Byrne AND Kelly makes me even happier.
I checked Brooklyn Vegan. She played pretty much the exact same set list in Chicago, though the order was slightly different. The only bummer was that she played the same night as X, and I couldn’t make it to both shows.
OMG IT WAS SO GOOD. It was awesome. It was great, she is the best and I love her so much. The new band’s version of “Your Lips are Red” is so good I can barely even stand it.
Kelly! I almost forgot to tell you. I met St. Vincent! She was at my school, doing an interview/on-air set for the radio station in one of our buildings’ basements, and I went there to say hi. She was super nice and conversational and she took a photo with me and now it’s my profile picture. I didn’t tell her I had a crush on her, but she could probably tell. Here is the photo, which coincidentally, looks very much like what I assume our wedding photo will look like.
I think EVERYONE has a crush on Annie, so I’m sure she just expects it.
That’s awesome though!
That rules and I am very jealous of you.
My roommate is not up to date on Parks and Rec and didn’t really understand why I was yelling at the screen so much when that Mallwae-Tweep so-and-so kept touching Ben’s arm….
I know we don’t get to talk about Glee like we used to, but I love a good Santana episode.
Also: I love how she’s from the bad side of Lima and is so very tough… but her dad is a doctor? Random and weird. I just love her.
I really wish Soft Gabe would come back, his recaps added an extra note to every episode that really gave them something.. Le sigh.
And yes, Santana is hands down my favorite.
She is from Lima Heights ADJACENT lolz.
Always Sunny was classic Always Sunny last night. Pair off the gang, send them on their way, and let them passionately ruminate and talk at each other with their painfully flawed logic.
Charlie and Dennis trying to justify why they were filing assault charges on the Shusher and Charlie bringing up rape then piling it all on Dennis was AMAZING. “He made soup of your insides.” “He bit your dick.” Holy shit, that was so good.
I thought Always Sunny was GREAT last night. Mostly I loved Dennis’s rant about gin because that is exactly how I feel about gin all the time.
…bar that serves one old-timey drink and goddammit I hate gin! Dee! You- you bitch!
Monsters, help me out here. Last night, during Parks and Rec, did your TVs broadcast the a black screen with the NBC logo and little three-tone jingle for 2 minutes straight? Or was that just a special easter egg for us Vermonsters? Because it was the worst.
This makes at least 3 Vermonsters here! It’s embarrassing that we call ourselves that, but I’m pretty sure that if we own it we can make it work.
i finished my assignment and now have finished uni for the year, 4 months of holidays for me… oh wait we’re supposed to be talking about TV. oh well! But the point is I should have a TV show.
If you ever see David Byrne at an event in NY, it’s an affirmation that you are at the coolest place to be that night.
Like one time, at a secret black metal show at Matthew Barney’s studio in Long Island City. And another time, at a Videogum anniversary party at Brooklyn Bowl.
Guys? Can someone make me a GIF of Pierce’s dad saying “Typical Welsh nonsense!” to Jeff? Because I’d really like to send that to a Welsh guy I know.
