Gossip Girl writer/producer Josh Schwartz is going to be remaking the British show Misfits that everybody loves so much into an EVEN BETTER SHOW, DEFINITELY! For America! How excited are you? The most excited? On a scale of 1 to 10 you’re nearly an 11?

  1. I’m 100% on board with this, actually. I love me some Misfits, but I can’t imagine the show without Nathan, and since that’s the direction we’re headed anyway, may as well just start from scratch instead and let me preserve my memories of the original as never having turned terrible.

  2. Well, Robert Sheehan got too important to stick around for the UK series. Any chance of pulling him in for the higher profile US version?

  3. Man i loved that show, despite it making almost no sense whatsoever, but if they are going to make an American version I really hope they don’t just use Yank versions of the cast. Lets see some new characters, new powers, new stories and hopefully no men who think there dogs.

  4. This makes me want to weep and then die.

  5. Bummer. I was hoping for a remake of the Misfits of Science.

  6. No thanks. You know the US version’s going to get unrealistically attractive people who are nothing but heroes (a la Heroes) who never do bad stuff. Plus, no cussing? How is that show going to work with no cussing?

  7. “Schwartz will team up with U.K. Misfits creator Howard Overman to write a U.S. translation.”

Haha. You guys. That’s not how languages work.

  8. This is great news, because they did such a great job with Skins this can’t possibly go wrong. Really, impossible to fuck up (side note: if they do remake it, less monster-of-the-week stuff, that was much too hit or miss in my opinion).

    • I don’t know. I kind of like that format. The opposite of that is when Heroes had like 1000000 villains that we were all supposed to care about. I like how focused and episodic Misfits is.

      • Of course too many bad guys doesn’t work, but I do think one or two main villains could work, with some randoms thrown in. I liked some of the bad guys who had ties to the main characters, but most of the villains were too random to even care about. Dog guy? Tattoo guy? Whatever. Now milk guy was so evil I could see him as a season long villain. Also, if they do remake it, fix some of the plot holes, like their powers only working when the plot requires it.

  9. When I first skimmed this I immediately thought they were going to a real-life version of the Misfits (the bad girl group from Jem) and was super excited. Bummer.

  10. Who wants to hear a terrible secret? Everyone? It’s pretty terrible…

I didn’t actually like the Misfits. I really liked the first season but the second felt way too monster-of-the-week….like they had no where to go? nothing to keep them moving forward? and it really wasn’t dark enough anymore. I hated Nathan. I didn’t even like hating Nathan until the Christmas episode (and i didn’t hate him anymore! i loved his love for Marnie!) but he’s out now so what does it even matter? #sigh

  11. This breaks my heart. What’s going to be the “American” version of the Alicia blow job water bottle scene?

  12. I like Misfits, but I could maybe go for a version of it that doesn’t ding the bell on the cringe meter quite so often.
