Coke vs Pepsi. Mac vs PC. Claritin vs Zyrtec. And now…KFC’s Original Bowls vs Popeye’s Big Easy Chicken Bowl, $3.49 worth of random ingredients thrown together to get us through these tough economic times. Patton Oswalt is going to have to come out of the self-imposed book-writing blog retirement he went into this morning just for this:

You would think that a company copying a food product from their #1 competitor that is universally synonymous with stomach “issues” would make a commercial less evocative of Candid Camera or Pun’kd. (Via Punchline Magazine. You can listen to Patton’s now-classic KFC bowls bit there.)

  1. MMM MMM, good eats (terrible eats)!

  2. “Jesus come chew my jaw for me. Happy birthday, I’m 43″- Patton Oswalt
That album rocks me gently, and hilariously, to sleep each night.

not as completely ridiculous as their “red beans and rice burrito”

  4. this commercial deceives you twice – they completely lie about the quality of the food and the actual number of white people you’ll find in any Popeye’s

    shame

  5. Man why don’t they leave that guy alone. He’s probably only got 10 minutes left in his break before he has to get back to Best Buy.

  6. It sounds kind of tasty to me.

  7. ugh. just reading the letters ‘kfc’ gives me tummy trubs.

  8. The difference is that the Popeye’s bowl is sane. Just red beans and rice, cheese, and unbreaded chicken as opposed to mashed potatoes or rice, gravy, corn, popcorn chicken, cheese, and a biscuit. Still, I’ll just eat the chicken.
