  1. This just leads me to believe that soon Bryan Cranston will be teaching Chemistry at Greendale.

  2. This is going to be the best, right? Oh, indeed.

  3. this is going to be great. but i’m more excited for his appearance on game of thrones.

  4. My wife and I are friends with this very conservative couple. They are the kinds of folks that complain bitterly about how trashy American Idol has gotten.

Their son was born a few months ago and they named him, get this, “Omar.” Omar!

It blows my mind. Either they are huge closet fans of The Wire, which is an unlikely but tantalizing prospect, or they failed to realize that the most prominent “Omar” of popular culture in the last 25 years was a gay black drug assassin in a critically-loved series about the dysfunction of Baltimore.

How long before they find out? How long are they going to puzzle about why folks keep whistling “The Farmer in the Dell” around their son? Why everyone says “Omar’s coming!” and cracks up? These are the sorts of things I spend way too much time thinking about.

    • He was actually singing “A Hunting We Will Go”. I don’t mean to correct you to be a jerk, just to allow you to be a Wire-nerd like me and correct people in the future using your superior Wire knowledge.

  5. I just read the paintball post because I was not a fan of The Wire back then, and I want to say that Michael Kenneth Williams is a very nice gentleman. He chatted with me and my husband at that Tanqueray event (where I met my boyfriend Idris Elba) a couple weeks ago and was not scary at all! I can’t wait to watch these episodes of Community…

  6. MKW is often times the best part of anything he’s in (Life During Wartime, anyone?). Didn’t think it was possible to make Community any better. So excite.

  7. This is super exciting. Just hope it doesn’t get too meta. You know, hopefully it isn’t all Wire jokes and he just plays a great character.

  8. That Wire paintball write-up is seriously still the funniest thing I’ve ever read.
