Steven Spielberg recently cast David Strathairn (Goodnight, and Good Luck; The Bourne Ultimatum; etc.) as William Seward in his upcoming Abraham Lincoln movie. Cool. He joins Daniel Day-Lewis (Lincoln), Sally Field (Mary Todd), and Joseph Gorden-Levitt (Robert Todd). Probably this will be good! Those people are great.

David Strathairn as Seward? Sounds like Spielberg’s folly to me.
You just know Spielberg is going to find a way for the North to fight Nazis in this thing.
I’ll bet Speilberg calls his “D-Day Lewis”.

I don’t know, Daniel Day-Lewis hasn’t really proven himself yet. We’ll see.
Has he announced who’s in charge of special effects yet? I’ve got a pretty good idea if not.
Sally Field, really? I thought MTL was more of a ballbuster. I would have gone with former WWE star Joanie ‘Chyna” Laurer, but that’s just me.
Can we have JGL in more perfectly cut suits and vests a’la Inception? Because that I would definiately watch.
In fact, can that be legally required to be in everything? Can that be made into a screen saver for my eyes, so when I blink I see JGL in a suit, possibly kicking ass in a rotating hallway? Hrm……

JGL as Robert Todd? Didn’t Robert Todd die when he was like 17? I am too lazy to click the google search bar and find out
Robert Todd lived to be in is eighties, I believe. But his brothers all died very young

He also was a witness to Garfield’s assassination and in town when McKinley was shot in Buffalo.
And he was crazy estranged from his dad and had his mom committed… and then she escaped!
I hope Spielberg lets JGL play this guy as wacky as his life reads in various nerd books and Wikipedia pages. And I hope Sally Field gets to do Mary as seriously crazy as she also reads.
