Are you ready for your weekly dose of movie trailers? I hope so, because you’re going to get them even if you aren’t ready. I’m sorry! But we do this every Friday. You should have known to prepare yourself. This is not our fault. So, we have a few new ones for you today. A few of them are good, a few of them are bad, and one of them is terrible. Very exciting! Click through to decide for yourselves which is which, because you can make your own decisions and no one is forcing your hand here:
The Killer Elite
WHAT IS THIS MOVIE ABOUT? I watched the trailer twice and I still have no idea what the plot is. Jason Statham kicking things? Robert De Niro being old and confused? Clive Owen trying very hard to be not as appealing as he is normally? Guns? Something with guns? I don’t know. I wish I could be here for you guys to explain this movie trailer to you, but my brain has broken and now I am dead.
A Dangerous Method
Yes! This one I like AND understand. Gabe chose this movie as one of his most anticipated for the remainder of 2011, and I was going to choose it if he hadn’t already. David Cronenberg! Michael Fassbender! Drama! Somewhat blurred lines between what is right and what is wrong! Loosely adapted history! I don’t like Viggo Mortensen, though, unfortunately. But I only don’t like him because I REALLY don’t like Guy Pearce, and he reminds me too much of Guy Pearce. Ugh, Guy Pearce.
Puss in Boots
I didn’t know this was happening. Did you know this was happening? Well, now we ALL know this is happening, and we can ALL be a little upset about before we eventually forget and move on to something else.
Flypaper
This bank heist movie, starring SO MANY PEOPLE (Patrick Dempsey, Ashley Judd, Rob Huebel, Tim Blake Nelson, Mekhi Phifer, Jeffrey Tambor), unfortunately does not look very good to me. Boring “wacky hijinks” + underlying element of non-fear + Ashley Judd and Patrick Dempsey falling in love + written by the guys who wrote The Hangover = ZzZZzzzzzZzzz. Not for me. I don’t know who it would be for, I can’t think of anyone, but also it is certainly not for me. It seems like a movie that’s trying to be like, “men and women can see this together on dates, something for everyone.” But really it is “let’s never see this, something for no one.”
Captain America:The First Avenger
This is the second trailer released for Captain America, but I figured I would include it anyway because of how I wanted to include it. Ok? This is another one that Gabe chose as one of his most anticipated, and it is another one that I agree about. Not that I would say I’m anticipating it THE MOST, because that would totally be a lie, but I am anticipating it slightly. Certainly more than most comic book movies that have ever come out. Is it because of how it’s set during World War II? Is it because of how cute/weird Chris Evans looks when he’s CG skinny? Is it kind of just a mystery to me and I’m not sure why? Yes, all of those.
And also the Muppets trailer came out, which Gabe has already talked about extensively.

“Captain America’s from BROOKLYN?! Should have called him Captain Not the Real America lol hope u r doing well.”

Could it be? Comment of the year?
never really got Jason Statham before I saw that trailer, and now I do and I feel like a real man
No wonder Freud was obsessed with sex and everything was about a penis. It was all that girl!
(that’s how it really happened, right?)
Jason Statham:Ridiculous Violence as Michael Fassbender:Deflowering Young Women.
Is Dwayne Johnson in any of these films?
What is happening in this picture?? That is not real water. Is that Goofy getting splashed? Is that an outboard motor shaped American flag? Is the man in the back seat a cardboard cutout? Is the sign actually in the scene or just added to the picture? So many questions.
And why is the guy in the backseat a cardboard cutout?
I am 90% sure I know the guy behind him in this picture.
Rob Huebel = worth seeing. Though I’m hoping to see the movie version of “Follow Friday”.

I didn’t realize people don’t like Viggo and Guy Pearce. They seem pretty likeable
what’s not to like about Guy Pearce? You have seen Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, haven’t you?
but he’s Aragorn! how could people not like Aragorn. Okay, I guess people could not like the 3 hour movies that Aragorn is in, but the guy is still pretty awesome.
And he’s soooo good in “The Road,” I mean like, heartbreakingly good. So totally likeable!
“I’d hit that.” – Carl Jung.
Seriously, Kelly, why don’t you like Guy Pearce? He was good in Memento. Remember? Didn’t you like Memento? WHY DIDN’T YOU LIKE MEMENTO?
I am sure she has the reason she didn’t like Memento scrawled on her body somewhere

True story: JD Salinger’s son played the original Captain America.
So my husband is a comic book fanatic so of course he is literally counting down the days until Captain America, while I simultaneously count down until Harry Potter (it’s called “being adults”) and I’m sorry but I’ve got to be honest that Captain America does not seem THAT exciting to me? Maybe because the Nazi-bad-guys-in-the-background thing is already kind of played out in my mind for some reason , possibly because of the recent XMen movie? I don’t know, I’ll see it of course, and Chris Evans’s body is like whoa, and hopefully it will live up to everyone’s expectations and be the greatest action movie of the summer. What is my point? I don’t really know that I have one, thank you for asking, but yeah, Captain America, I hope it will be amazing! But if not, it’ll be ok!
Guy Pearce was really good in The Proposition (w/Ray Winstone), which was directed by John Hillcoat, who afterwards directed Viggo Mortensen in The Road.
oh The Proposition was SO GOOD. it gave me chills.
Why is Chris Evans allowed to wear pants, but no shirt in the superhero microwave? I’m sure this will be but one of the many philosophical questions I will have before/after seeing Captain America: So Many Hot Dudes.
I liked X-Men: First Class.
