The Duplass brothers, who brought you Cyrus and The Puffy Chair, are currently “prepping” (?) their new film, Pitchfork. It’s about a mom who, after her son dies, goes after a Pitchfork blogger who dissed him, to find out he’s just a teenager. Neat! Internet! Blogs! Mumblecore (I imagine)! But WHO should play the blogger? Gabe? Gabe with braces?? Gabe with braces for this teenager 2011! Call your local Hollywood Mumblecore representatives.

I think it should be Katy Perry as Kathy Beth Terry . #callbacksgum
Son of Gabe?
#DrBirdieforBlogger
Phillip Seymour Hoffman, he should just play all the roles ever
I though Snark killed Mumblecore.

More upvotes over here, everyone.
I love that trying to make movies or TV shows about bloggers might be a new thing. I was going to argue that watching someone type isn’t very compelling, but Birdie already proved me wrong on that one.
The Pitchfork review of the soundtrack of this film–if done right–will achieve unprecedented levels of meta.
The entire internet will trip over itself rushing to give gimmick reviews of this movie based on a 10.0 scale.
I like the Duplasses, but this sounds terrible. Making fun of Pitchfork is so 2006. Are they also going to have lots of MySpace references?
Godammit I wish they’d have Alex Blagg play the blogger. I cannot think of a single thing that would make me happier than seeing Alex Blagg and his strat on the big screen.
i bet the mother and the blogger form an unlikely friendship based on their shared opinion that Fleet Foxes are just too derivative for their tastes.
The fuck is mumblecore?
Take a hike gramps, the kids are talking about the style of movie that defines THEM.
Kelly do you actually own that shirt which is your avatar? Because I really hope you do.
I have had to look it up a couple times because I keep forgetting what the definition of the genre is. I have come to the conclusion that I don’t really care, and probably wouldn’t like it anyway. No offense to anyone that does.
Are Pitchfork writers considered “bloggers”? Is Pitchfork even considered a blog? I don’t think of it that way. No comments! Doesn’t a website have to have comment threads to be considered a blog?
Dear Film Journalists,
Stop using “prepping” as short for “preparing”. IT’S ONE EXTRA FUCKING LETTER. Be an adult.
Wonder where they picked that up
I’m already bored with this upcoming movie announcement. I’m reading other movie announcements now.
