Well, I guess this is goodbye to all our old pals. (As you know, 30 Rock season finale was actually two weeks ago. And Community‘s was last week. Drips and drabs, dribs and drabs.) It was great sitting next to them in science class! Have a great summer, K.I.T. Please come back soon it is already so lonnnnnelyyyyyyy! Anyway, The Office finale was good? The Office finale was good. If for nothing else (although for plenty of things else!) a cameo by Warren Buffet is incredible. Meanwhile, I was not that into all of this back-loading of Parks and Recreation episodes! Four episodes in two weeks? That’s too many! Sure, they were great, but I like to have them doled out one at a time so I can SAVOR THEM like a FINE SOMETHING THAT IS FINE! Nevertheless, that show was so good this year. Just one of the best shows. It will be missed. For months. Until it is back. Yay!

Enjoy this Open Thread, you guys. It’s the last one for awhile. Unless you want to talk about the best spills on Wipe Out each week for the rest of our lives.

    • “Oh President Reagan, my blazer popped open!”
“Well, Maggie Thatcher, let me help you with that. It’s going to be a very bumpy ride to THIS summit meeting..!”

  1. I knew Leslie Knope was kinky in the bedroom.

  2. Okay everyone: time to fantasy cast Tammy #1. Who should they get?

I’d love it if they land some unexpected, huge name for it – a Holly Hunter or a Sigourney Weaver, perhaps.

  3. Gif gif gif gif gif. Giffity gif.

  4. Parks and Recs left me so unsettled! I wanted the strange political group to be something ron set up to get leslie to go public about her and ben. The looks on her and ben’s faces were so sad! none of that, writers! I want happy stuff.

also, why is someone downvoting all the gifs? that’s mean. concert_addict, i upvoted everything.

    • There’s always someone out there who hates FUN and HAPPINESS.

    • I was really sad, too. But then I thought that maybe if she was mayor or alderman or city councilman or anything, then her and Ben could actually date out in the open? I don’t know how these things work.

      • I think they were implying that if she still works in Parks & Rec dept while she’s running for office, one of her opponents could find out about her relationship with her coworker and use it against her.

I’m really excited to see who they will bring in for the opponents. Rivalries are the best.

    • BONES! finally! Booth’s face is the best.

      • in the spirit of “it’s okay to not like things, but don’t be a dick about it” i have to confess that i disagree. i don’t say this to be a hater, but rather because i respect videogum commenters, and maybe someone can relate and can explain to me why i think this way. david boreanaz annoys me, and i can’t figure out why. like, literally, when i saw that scene, my first thought was, “i’m glad he’s happy!”, and then my second thought was, “ACTING. david boreanaz’s stupid face.” i liked the bones/sully relationship a lot more than this ongoing bones/booth romantic tension thing. and yet i keep watching this show. i mean, i’ve seen every episode! this is a personal thing, obviously. i’m actually kind of jealous of everyone else for enjoying this.

then again, i kind of had the same problem with the character of angel. haha, i think maybe this is something i should talk to a therapist about.

        • oh, I totally understand. I’ve kind of gotten sick of the whole show, but still feel obligated to watch. I think they are two years too late on this but I do like the way they handled it. Instead of it being over the top, the relationship has just kind of transitioned from friendship to lovers. Everyone knew it was going to happen, now it has. Let’s move on and maybe have an ok season next year.

that being said, the thing i hate most about bones is the blatant product placement. A car parking itself does NOTHING to move the plot along.

          • i think they handled it well, too! i’m actually glad they didn’t show much (see babsgordon’s comment below), but that probs has to do with my boreanaz issues. and i think the, um, role playing required in this case (because of the undercover stuff) helped avoid a lot of awkwardness. so yeah, despite my boreanaz issues, i think this episode in particular was handled VERY well.

and yeah, the product placement is ridiculous. even considering that she has to transport stuff a lot, i cannot imagine angela driving a sienna.

        • If you’d like, perhaps you can borrow some of my overabundant David Boreanaz love. OR, just please envision THIS whenever he is annoying you and he will automatically be cute/adorable/lovable/squishable.

    • Bones ending was INSANE!

In the best way. I squealed with delight.

      • I felt cheated! I mean, yay at the news but BOO at the not showing us ANY of how we got there. I mean, I don’t want, like The Tudors from Bones, but more than crying into his chest.

        • The show has just been getting odder and odder, worse and worse, now I started watching it again after a break, but basically pretending it is set in some kind of Mr. Rodgers universe of simplicity and goofiness, where people like “The Raven” exist, and everyone knows everyone, and where people have silly conversations with their coworkers/best friends whilst giving birth, and everyone knows the doctor there, just cause. And the show has gotten much better.

    • Bones looks especially gorgeous in this gif.

  5. I forgot the Warren Buffett would be on The Office and actually didn’t notice him at all. I guess he was a job candidate? Someone please clarify. (I am not a businessman — how am I supposed to keep all the billionaires straight?!)

  6. I live in Omaha and there was an article in the local paper about Buffett being on the finale of the Office.
This is a quote from that artice:

“Buffett’s daughter, Susan, said a friend, Michael Kives of Creative Artists Agency, came up with the idea during Thanksgiving dinner at her Omaha home, leading to the February taping in California. ‘It was funny,’ she said.”

    “It was Funny”!

    • That whole Leslie-as-her-mom scene killed. Like I understand that she has a better grip on Momma Knope’s meanness than anyone else but the bite on her attempts at emulating it seemed negligible at best, which was hilarious to me.

I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!!!! (Almost wrote “shoe”. Which, yeah, I love, too. Good shoe, all.)

  7. shut up about the sun

  8. What is Catherine Tate from and do you recommend that thing to me?
    I’ll take my answer offline.

  9. If Leslie chooses a stupid alderman job over Adam Scott, she will be my least favorite person in Indiana. And I hate Indiana.

    • Not cool, yo.

    • But if she’s an alderman, she’s not working for him anymore, and the rule no longer applies. It’s “hide the affair, get elected, then ‘start’ the relationship when it’s no longer against the rules”, so she’s not actually choosing the job over Adam Scott, but she would probably be putting it on hold until they could take it public. The risk of losing her job vs. risk of losing the election (and her back up job) is about the same … but getting a job on city council would get her out of the “can’t date him” rule.

      • I don’t know if things are different in Pawnee, but I think it would be an equally bad image for an Assistant City Manager to suddenly have a relationship with a City Councilor – because if she wins, Leslie will basically be Ben’s boss.

Then again, Councilor Dexhart has been having threesomes with everything that moves and he still manages to survive.

Loved the (subconscious) choice of a Monica Lewinsky-esque polka dot dress for the rendezvous…

  10. just found out Mach Man died, 8 year old me is so upset.

  11. Who do y’all think is going to be the new boss? I think Kelly would be great, or James Spader if they do pick an outsider.

    or a homeless person.

  12. CUBE BUTT! CUBE BUTT! CUBE BUTT! CUBE BUTT! CUBE BUTT! CUBE BUTT!

  13. James Spader won television last night. I guess that was basically his character from Boston Legal (or so I’m told by my father), but he was hysterical.

  14. WHERE IS THE GIF WHERE RYAN GOES,

“Ohhhh no Stanley. You’ll live forever.”

Because Ryan was hilarious last night.

  15. I missed the beginning! Why isn’t Jim the new manager?

  16. Can I get a gif of Jean-Ralphio going through that humongous circle chair?

  17. Calvin & Hobbes / Bill Watterson shout-out on broadcast television! Everyone knows C&H is awesomesauce, but it’s not something that gets referenced much in pop-culture nowadays.

  18. Really obscure question but it’s been bugging me all day and you monsters are the only ones who I think can help. It was either in the earlier Parks & Recreation episode featuring the 4th floor, or a 30 Rock episode with a similar story about a creepy floor in the building…anyway the floor in question had a sign on the front of a reception desk that said something completely bizarre and hilarious like “TACO FOOD” or something. It was a two-word sign that demonstrated how nuts the entire floor was. Does anyone else remember this? I watched the beginning of the old Parks & Rec where Leslie visits the 4th floor and sees Tom filing for divorce, but it’s not there, and you have to pay for the rest of the episode, so maybe it was an old 30 Rock…the one where Jack’s office gets moved to a different floor? Arg! Help! Thanks!

    • In the season 2 episode “Sandwich Day” Jack moves to the 12th floor. I don’t remember what the 12 floor looks like, but I do believe it was supposed to look weird and/or creepy.

    • Didn’t it say “Peanut Allergy” or something like that? “I meant Fourty Twelve, 52 because that’s where my office is.” Jack Donaughy

  19. NO NUT FOOD
Thanks krull_nugget! Tonight we sleep the sleep of the righteous. Which is probably a good thing, considering what’s going down tomorrow.

  20. Kaka; peepee.
